"i don't get why you can't drink when you turn eighteen. i mean technically you're an adult, so why wait three more years till you're twenty-one?" carly asked wes who sent her a confused look before nodding in agreement.

"what is she like, the sister?" liv asked the group. liv joined the friend group later on  through highschool and didn't meet sam before she left.

"sam? sam is so cool." chad smiled.

carly nodded in agreement. "and hot."

amber sent her a look. "you dated tara."

"and? tara could care less if i called sam hot. it's not like i plan to pursue her." carly shrugged.

"you only say that cause she let you wear pokémon onesies to bed for a year." mindy pointed out and chad agreed.

carly laughed at the memory of a little chad running around the carpenter's house in a pokémon onesie.

"trust me, sam is not cool. her dad left her mom. walks right out on them when tara's eight, sam's thirteen. sam started acting out, getting in trouble with the cops, and then on sam's eighteenth birthday she leaves. ghosts em all. maybe sam's changed. but i don't want to see tara hurt again." amber looked at carly as she finished her rant and carly rolled her eyes.

wes looked at amber in disbelief. "so your protecting tara from her own sister?"

"well someone has to." amber said.

"ok so no guys or girls are good for her and now her family is off limits too."

mindy looked at wes. "ooo motive. if i can't have them, no one can."

"what?" wes questioned.

"we all know you have a crush on tara. you liked her even when her and carly were together." mindy said. "cmon mindy."

"look, we're all suspects."
