Until Dawn - A Sky Story

Chapter 1

The homespace was beautiful as always. The island was surrounded by clean water. The birds were singing. The bells announced a new beginning hour. 

Rem let out a deep sigh. Even though it was peaceful, he was always someone to rather enjoy some thrilling experiences. But when he saw some young children running around and playing, he did have to smile. It made him remember his own childhood. He always used to be such a troublesome child. He closed his eyes as he started remembering the times beforethe darkness had fallen upon their peaceful lands. Whenever Rem could, he tried to sneak away and explore more parts of the world. While other kids just tried to play hide and seek or tag, he would jump around, climb and get himself in trouble. 

"Remmie, what are you thinking about again?", when he heard Wen speaking he got thrown out of his thoughts and started smiling awkwardly. "Nothing... i was just... remembering."

She smiled and lead him over to their friendgroup. "There you are, we were worried!", Yukina says with a strict voice. A young women. Older than Rem. Wearing a weasel mask and having her long hair falling down.

"I was just-", he tried to defend himself but got cut off by a man. "We know. now stop talking. I'm trying to play music here!". Pickle says. An adult. Harsh, but a good guy. An annoyed pouting was heard as Pickle adjusted his black foxmask and kept playing on his guitar. 

Most here kept their masks on. But Rem simply disliked them, so he ran around without a mask. Even though it made his eyes more sensitive. 

"Alright eh, where is Aria?", Rem asked to escape further scolding. Mari started speaking. An adult women. When Rem became an orphan she took care of him, so she kind of became a mother for him. The voice and height was the only thing that really made the difference between her and Yukina. They looked very similar. Though Yukina switched the masks around here and there, Mari would never do that. "She is right there around the corner preparing the potatoes she brought. you should say hello", she said and Rem started smiling and walked over to Aria. Around the same age as Rem. but slightly younger. "Hey Aria", Rem said and came closer. These two were best friends. Aria had a short bob haircut and a little orange round accessoire in her hair. "Heehoo", she said and turned around to Rem. 

After some smalltalk Rem helped her bringing the finished food to the rest of the group. The two were laughing together as always. 

As everyone sat down the friends started eating. 

"Guys? Guys did anyone see Bryan?", Xan asked while running to the others. An adult man. wearing a bull shaped mask. But there was none of his regular prideful stance.

"Bryan? Why what happend?", Mari asked, looking up at Xan.

"He said he had to get something from the wastelands, but he did not return yet. And i could not find him anywhere!", Xan says while trying to catch his breath. Pickle stood up and came close, giving him a part of his own light energy to help him recover.

"The wastelands?!", Rem yells and jumps on his feet. "We have to find him!"

"Rem this is too dangerous...", Yukina takes his hand and stops him from standing up. "Maybe he is just late and will return in just a bit..."

"We can't just sit here and wait. He might die out there on his own! Why would he go all by himself?", Rem says and pulls away his hand from her grab, getting on his feet.

"Wait i will go with you.", Wen says and looks up at him. Without a word, Aria also stands up and takes his hand. 

"We should not be too many...Else we will more likely be noticed by the creatures of the Darkness", Wen says, implying the three to go alone. 

The adults don't seem to be too happy about this. 

"We are the fastest here. If something bad happens, we will run. I promise." Rem says and looks especially into Maris eyes. "Be back before night falls. Else we will come after you.", Pickle says with a commanding sound. The three younger friends nod. Under Rems lead, the three summoned their magical capes of light and began flying to the Forgotten Wastelands.
