♧︎♧︎♧︎when the train finally stopped at hogsmeade station, and there was a great scramble to get out. animals were going crazy, neville's toad, trevor was also going crazy croaking loudly. it was also freezing on the tiny platform, rain was falling from the sky heavily.
"firs' years this way!" called a familiar voice of hagrids.
hagrid, the a half-giant was extremely kind to elara, harry, ron, and hermione. they always went to him if they needed, even just randomly.
"all righ', you four?" he yelled over the heads of the crowd. they waved at him, but had no chance of speaking.
"gosh, it's pouring." elara said, hooking her arm with hermione's. "and it's crowded as fuck out here, i'm concerned about the first year ... wouldn't be surprised if they fall. thought i'm willing to just run to hogwarts."
as soon as they go into the carriage trundled towards a pair of wrought-iron gates. elara sucked in a breath once she saw the dementors. she thought it was wrong they had deadly creatures here. it was ridiculous.
"i haven't been myself lately." Elara admitted. "but i did remind myself that elara is the most humorous person at hogwarts. i just need to find myself."
"what?" ron asked.
elara hugged beenard closer. "i need to ... find myself." she winked.
the three stared at her as she laughed. so she faked coughed muttering "bad humanity joke ..."
"you fainted, potter?" draco taunted. "is longbottom telling the truth? you actually fainted."
elara groaned loudly.
"dude, don't you have other things to do then taunt harry." She said. "and besides, we weren't the ones who ran into a compartment about to piss themself, we're we?"
"wait ... how do you know- ?"
elara turned to the three and winked. "magic."
"just shove off, malfoy." said ron.
"oh did you faint as well, Weasley?" malfoy taunted. "did the scary old dementors frighten you, too, weasel?"
"oh my gosh, shut up, draco." Elara rolled her eyes. "all we hear is your stupid moaning. we know you care for us, but we not give a shi-"
"is there a problem?" said the mild voice of remus, cutting off elara. he gave her a warning look as if saying 'elara lily.'.
"oh, no - er - professor." malfoy replied with a tiny hint of sarcasm.
walking into the great hall, elara was talking rather comfortably with hermione before surprisingly being interrupted by professor mcgonagall.
"potter! granger! i want to see you both." she called.
"well, hello, to you too minnie." Elara chuckled turning to face mcgonagall just like the other three.
"good evening, ms. lupin. i expect you and mr. weasley should be there walking into those doors and not miss the sorting." she spoke sternly before walking away with the two.
"gee, thanks for the reminder, i guess." elara mumbles, chuckling slightly with ron. "come on, bro."
the boring sorting went on, ron and elara were practically falling asleep on each other. this sight was something remus smiled at slightly. this reminded him of how sirius and james were.
seeing his daughter and her best friend, acting like his lover and his best friend made him feel sad.
soon enough harry and hermione had sat down on either side them, waking them up with a huge jolt.
"uh," Elara groaned slightly. "do not scare or wake me up like that ever again."
"what was all that about?" ron questioned.
"i'll tell you guys later." harry whispered.
"you better." elara whispered back
"welcome!" dumbledore said, causing elara to roll her eyes. "welcome, to another year at hogwarts! i have a few things to say to you all, and as one of them is very ... serious."
"sirius..." elara snorted getting a nudge from hermione.
"... it's best to get it out of the way before you become befuddled by our excellent feast. as you will be aware after this search of the hogwarts express, our school is presently playing host to some of the dememtors of azkaban, who are here on ministry of magic business. they are stationed at every entrance to the grounds. and while they are with us, i must make it plain that nobody is to leave school without permission. dementors are not to be fooled by tricks or disguises — or even invisibility cloak."
the trio shared a knowing glance at each other. they used the invisibility cloak more then hermione.
"it is not in the nature of a dementor to understand pleading or excuses. i therefore warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. i look to the prefects, and our new head boy and girl, to make sure that no student runs foul of the dementors."
percy, who was head boy had this new grin and puffed out his chest. dombledore paused again;
he looked very seriously around the hall, and nobody moved or made a sound."on a happier note," he continued, "i am pleased to welcome two new teachers to our ranks this year. firstly, professor lupin, who kindly consented to fill the post of defense against the dark arts."
there was a loud scattered applause, while he stood up. people around whispered things about how he was elara's father. which she did clap the loudest, she was happy he was there.
"can you believe that elara lupin's father is a professor?" she heard a whisper.
"i know, me likey."
"honestly, philia, you're so weird."
she chuckled at this
"as to our second new appointment." dumbledore continued. "well, i am sorry to tell you that professor kettleburn, our care of magical creatures teacher, retired at the end of last year in order to enjoy more time with his remaining linbs. however, i am delighted to say that his place will be filled by none other then our very own rubeus hagrid, who had agreed to take on this teaching job in addition to his game keeping duties."
"wow." elara blinked obviously shocked and happy.
once the applauses went off the four were the loudest.
"we should've known!" ron roared, "who else would have set us a biting book?"
"well, i think that's everything of importance, let the feast begin!"
