CHAPTER FIVE
A Simple Fight Or Flight ResponseThere was an uneasy feeling growing in Lorelai's stomach as she got closer to getting on the plane. It wasn't one she was flying, but rather an airline. That's not what she was worried about, usually whenever she was on a flight, so was a murderer.
She showed the boarding pass and passport, then walked onto the plane with no carry-on or personal item. Economy class was in no way as comfortable or luxurious as first or business class, but she was just aiming to get from point a to point b.
The guy who sat beside her tried flirting with her, he had blond hair and blue eyes. Apparently, he was supposed to be in first class, but it got mixed up. And this was one time in which she knew how to hack into computer systems and be able to change that.
The safety instructions ran through the speakers, and Lorelai looked ahead.
Thirty minutes into the flight, and the feeling bubbling throughout Lorelai's stomach wasn't calming down. She looked to the other side of the rows and saw a suspicious person.
Lorelai looked outside of the window to see the plane dropping harshly above a large body of water, indicating the ocean. Her eyes widened when she saw the suspicious person get up and walk towards the cockpit. Lorelai looked around discreetly, thankfully, if they crashed, she'd only have to swim half way instead of 3 quarters. But she was never the best swimmer, not that she couldn't swim, just that large areas of swimming were not her strong suit.
The plane lowered even more, causing panic throughout the entirety of the plane. Lorelai looked around before the plane started flying inverted, and was getting even closer to the water. The only good news was that they were getting closer to Prague. She saw many people getting on the floor and praying or whispering words to a higher power.
Then there were people who were very visibly bracing for impact, then there was Lorelai. Lorelai was remaining calm. She had to save her energy because it would take forever for a helicopter to even notice a plane in the ocean. There was a small piece of land that the plane would crash right next to.
The plane shook roughly, making many people's heads bang against the window or walls. The side of Lorelai's head started bleeding, some windows cracked onto people, leaving glass shards digging into skin. Lorelai hissed quietly in pain, and by some miracle, she managed to get out of the plane before drowning. She swam to the piece of land, tired as hell.
She lazily stood up from the water and stepped onto the grass. She saw a small sign or something that said 'Ponta Delgada'.
Lorelai sighed as she walked further up to see a group of people. "Oi." Lorelai recognised the language as Portuguese when they continued talking.
"Oi," Lorelai started thinking of how to word it properly, "helicóptero... você tem um helicóptero?" She hoped it was right.
"Sim! Me siga." So, Lorelai followed the woman.
The woman showed the helicopter and gave the keys. "Obrigado. Um avião caiu no oceano." Lorelai informed the woman, who had a look of shock on her face. Lorelai had told her about the plane crash and that people were in the ocean.
The woman nodded, and ran off to get help for the others. Lorelai got into the helicopter and flew off to Prague. She'd find a way to return the helicopter as soon as possible.
She stepped out of the helicopter, still drenched in water, although, she was drying off, but the cold breeze would hit every so often. Lorelai looked at the tracker that Director Ranford gave her, sure enough, it was glitching because of the water. She walked further from the landing tarmac for the helicopter.
Lorelai really hoped that this mission was worth it.
Please note: I do not speak Portuguese, this was translated from Google Translate (meaning, it could be wrong, and I apologise in advance)
But... Lorelai and Ethan meet soon...
Okay, bye!
