𝓢itting in the back of Blackwell's patrol car, I couldn't help but feel flustered. My mind was a whirlwind of emotions and thoughts. My arm throbbed gently beneath the bandage he had skillfully applied, but it was the lingering effect of his touch that sent shivers down my spine. That scent of his clung to my senses, a constant remainder of every intimate interaction.

My eyes fixated on Blackwell as he talked with the other officer who had arrested the blonde chick. They stood by the patrol cars, their voices muffled by the closed windows. From my vantage point, I could only observe their animated conversation, and Blackwell's occasional smile.

I wanted to wipe that smile off his face. That bastard. He'd teased the hell out of me and then just pulled away like nothing.

I wanted to leave then, but then he reminded me that I didn't have a ride and I was in no condition to drive, so he put himself in charge of taking me home.

I would have rode a scooter to my house if it meant not being in the car with him.

My phone suddenly buzzed on my lap.

It was a text from Clare in the group chat.

Girl, this Mason guy is 🔥

I smiled, imagining the torture Blackwell's friend must be going through if Clare thought he was hot.

Control yourself, succubus. I shot her a message and almost immediately got a reply back.

Don't control yourself, virgin. Followed by another message from Clare. Maybe you can finish what you started with officer Blackwell? 🥵

I rolled my eyes and set my phone away. The only action I planned on getting tonight was from my blankets and pillows.

The car door swung open and Blackwell effortlessly settled into the driver's seat. He said something coded into a little walkie. Looks like he intended to keep me back here. I hated being in the backseat, it made me car sick.

"Can I move up front?" I asked, knowing my request would likely be denied.

"No."

I let out an exasperated sigh and sat back into the backseat, at least the cool leather felt good against the warmth of my skin. I looked up, meeting Blackwell's steady gaze as I realized he had been waiting for me.

"All set?"

"I guess." Like I had a choice.

Blackwell smirked but said nothing else. The atmosphere in the car crackled with silent tension. Blackwell started the engine and we pulled away.

The trip back into town was dark. Indigo had plenty of surrounding woods and this road in particular had no street lights.

If I focused on the drive, I could feel the nausea and if I laid back I could feel the heat. My mind either wanted to think about the man in the front seat or nothing at all and I couldn't really blame it.

As he drove, focused on the road and calmly going way over the speed limit, I couldn't help but steal glances at him. His profile was illuminated by the soft glow of the dashboard.

He was...hot...but he was also moody.

One second he would apologize to me, the next he would tease me until I felt like melting. He was frustrating. Have men always been this frustrating?

Silence settled between us and it was both comforting and unsettling. Filling the space between us. I wanted to break the silence, but something held me back, because with each passing mile, it felt as though the tension in the car was growing. I stole more glances at Blackwell, wondering if he too felt what I felt.
