"With the first pick overall the New Jersey Devils are proud to select from the U.S program Jack Hughes"
There was an uproar of applause for Jack he jumped up and hugged me I was so happy for him he was the first overall pick for a team he's been watching for years I couldn't be prouder. I see him walk up on to the stage with the announcer and get the Devils Jersey and hat and starts to shake everyone's hand. Nothing made me happier then to see my twin be up on that stage. It wouldn't matter if I got picked all I wanted was for him to be a NHL hockey player. After taking the picture he retired to his seat next to me.
" I'm so proud of you Jack you deserve this moment" I whispered in his ear
" You know what would make me happier" he said
" What?" I asked in confusing how could he want to be happier
" If you went up as the second pick" he said
" No one manager or coach wants a girl on an all men's team" I said
" Well there stupid if they don't pick the best person here" he replied
" Well let's see Rangers pick next" I said
The General Manger of the Rangers came up to the microphone to announce the next pick
" Hello to all of our fans at MSG, with the second pick in the 2019 draft The New York Rangers are very proud to pick the first ever female player to our organization-" I stopped breathing for a moment I looked at Jack then at Luke then to Quinn they had the same look on there face to was the look of proudneses
"- We select Colette Hughes form the U.S program" Jeff Gorton said . As stood up and pulled Jack into a hug.
"Now I'm the happiest I could ever been" Jack said as we pulled away tears started to build up in our eyes I walked over a hugged Luke and then Quinn. I hugged my mom and dad, and I walked up to the same stage Quinn did and then Jack did I finally felt like I wasn't an outcast in my family. I got my Jersey and My hat and walked to the side and shake everyone's hand when I put on the jersey and smiled for the camera I finally knew I won against all odds that were against me.
After the draft is over they put everyone who has been drafted and on your team in a room when walking to the NY Ranger room I found Kaapo kakko he was the third overall draft pick.
" What are you nervous" he asked in a teasing tone
"Yeah, congratulations on getting picked" I said
"Thanks you too must be cool being the first women in the NHL" he said shaking my hand
" Not really more I might get fired if I don't play good" I said chuckling
"Well maybe I should be worried too" he said chuckling along with me
"What position do you play" I asked
"I'm a right winger but I shoot from left" he said
"Thats cool I'm a left winger but I shoot form right" I said
"Maybe we're siblings" he said
"I think we could pull that off" I said
"So is Jack you're twin or just you're brother or do you just have the same last name" he asked me
"No he's my twin" I said
"That's cool are you sad you're getting separated from him" he said
"Yeah I'm a little said but New York and New Jersey are very close in range but I think I'll survive I alway feel bad for Quinn he's all the way in Vancouver" I said
"Wait how many brother do you have" he asked in a shock face
"Quinn is my older brother he plays for Vancouver, Jack is my twin, and Luke is my youngest brother and he also plays hockey" I said
"Wow you're whole family are hockey players no wonder all most all of you got drafted" he said
Me and Kaapo kept talking until we both wanted to get out and go to the hotel but for me it was to get on my plane go to my house and start packing for Ny, I was nervous I had never owned a house or ever been away from Jack but it was the life of being an adult and I was not ready. Our first practice was July 10th and it was far away but I needed to start to get in-shape again
