I was walking to school when I met him. You see, no one likes me at my school. The guys think I'm a freak because of my eyes. The girls are jealous. I didn't mean to sound braggy, just honest. So it definitely came as a surprise when I turned the corner and bumped right into someone.
I was about to say, "Sorry," when he started laughing.
"Hey! You just knock me over, and start laughing. Nice one," I fume with anger.
"I'm sorry. It's not you, it's just that I'm always so clumsy." I immediately begin to feel bad for yelling at him.
"Sorry. I'm just in a bad mood." I stick out my hand, "I'm Skylar."
"Hey, I'm Alex. I'm new here, going to Breakers. You?"
"Ya I go there. If you want we can walk together."
We walk the rest of the way to school chatting like old friends. As we walk in, I turn to see Angie, or as I like to call her, the witch.
"Hey Skylar! Who's your friend?" I just look at her with a weird look. I am used to her calling me 'freak' and 'weirdo', but never my actual name.
She walks up to Alex smiles in what she thinks is flirtatiously. Honestly, I think she looks plain ugly with the amount of makeup caked onto her face.
"I'm Alex. New to the school."
Angie laughs and says "Let me show you around."
Alex says just agrees as hugs to me (to mine and Angie's great and utter surprise), "Bye Skylar. See you later!" Angie shoots a death glare.
----I'M A LINE BREAK, YES I AM!----YOU'RE A HUMAN, YES YOU ARE!----
After school, I wait outside for Alex. I see him come out with Angie practically hanging off of him.
"Hey Skylar. I wish you were in my classes they got so boring, I literally had no one to laugh with!" he jokes.
Suddenly Angie asks him, "What about me? I was in some of your classes. Don't tell me I'm boring you already."
Alex looks at her uncomfortably and says, "Oh ya you are. Sorry I forgot. Anyway, I have to get going. By Angie." He turns to me and we leave.
I didn't think that I could get a friend, but apparently there are people in the world who care about someone's personality, rather than just looks.
