At first she thought it was just a secret admirer
Ken had been finding letters and gifts in her locker for almost 3 years. It's nearing the end of her Junior year of high school and she couldn't be more confused. It started with short letters and poems slipped through the vent in her locker halfway through freshman year. Then last year it got more intense, small gifts like stuffed animals and bracelets were left in her locker. What worried her was that someone would have to have found her locker code. This year it was the same, notes, poems, and gifts. Until today....
—————————————————————————Today it became painfully clear.
She had a stalker.
Ken's pov
On her desk was a spiral notebook with a blue cover. 'Kennedy Parker' was written on the front in black Marker. 'What the hell?' She thought as she plopped into her seat. She slipped the notebook into her bag to read later.
through all her next classes she couldn't stop thinking about that journal. After what felt like an eternity the bell rang signaling that they could go home.
As Ken slung her backpack over her shoulder the teacher reminded the class "remember kids Monday we'll be assigning partners for the project. So think about which battle you want to cover". She ignored the teacher, she was too distracted by the thought of finally being able to read the notebook.
Ken's eyes were wide as she sat on her bed. This was definitely not her notebook. It was filled with paragraphs obsessing over her. There were several pages detailing how beautiful she looked. On one page there was a copy of her class schedule. On another there was a detailed list of things she did after school. It worried her how much this person knew about her life. There were things in here that even her own family didn't know.
She continued to flip through the pages til she stopped on one with a poem. It read:
"Sweet ice cream
Sweet like your honey eyes
That sweet treat is a symbol of my love for you
The first time we met
I thought
Ice cream is sweet, but nothing is sweeter
than your smileIt was a short poem but she could tell how much feeling it held. 'I want to meet this person' she thought' I want to know who's been doing this'. She stood up. Making a plan. She was going to write a note and put it in her locker for her stalker to find.
On Monday she did just that. A short note in a plain envelope, with only three words written on it; to My Stalker
She sat the note prominently in the middle of her locker. She was early as always so walked to the courtyard to read until class started. She felt a little excited and a lot nervous as she sat trying to focus on her book.
Nathan's pov
"Ugh why is it so bright?" Nathan grumbled as the alarm blared from his phone. He dragged himself of the couch and into his room to get ready. He brushed the tangles out of his curly, dirty blonde hair and grabbed some clothes off the top of his laundry basket. He gave the shirt a sniff 'eh smells fine' he thought. He put on his aviator jacket and grabbed his backpack. He put in the code to lock the bedroom behind him.
He walked down the hallway stopping by his sisters room. He peaked his head in to see her sleeping peacefully. He smiled and pushed open the door. "Hey Janet it's time to get up for school" he said softly, gently shaking the girls shoulder. She peaked open one baby blue eye and pouted. "But whyyy?" The eight year old whined. "Sorry pumpkin but you have to go" the boy said gently "c'mon sis we're gonna be late" Nathan stood up gently taking his sisters hand. "Fine" the girl said, opening the other coffee brown eye and pushing off the covers.
He smiled as he brushed Janet's dirty blonde hair into a ponytail. "So pumpkin, did anything happen while I was gone?" He asked. "Umm well" she said avoiding his eyes in the mirror" Paul got drunk and yelled at me". The boy looked furious. "He didn't hurt you, did he?" The boy said silently fuming. " NO! No he didn't! I hid in your closet with the door locked just like you told me" She said quickly. "Good. If that asshole touches you I'll kill him" he said seriously. "I know big brother. But in a few months you'll be able to leave right? You'll take me with you, won't you?" The girl said looking down. "Of course I'll take you with me Pumpkin. I would never leave you with them" he said smiling sadly. "Ok" she smiled standing up. "Come on Janet we'll be late" He standing up. He grabbed his sister's back pack, as well as his own. "Let's go" he said. They walked out the front door of the trailer and to his old truck.
Nathan drove the rest of the way to the elementary school in silence. He dropped off his sister at the front entrance and smiled, waving her off. He sighed before driving to the high school across the street. He parked his car in the student parking lot and walked in. He smiled, thinking about seeing Ken in his first period. He walked to his locker to grab what he needed for class along with the latest gift he got for his beloved. It was a small pink bat plushie. He can't leave things like this in his house because he never knows if his parents will find it and sell it. He grabs the plush and walks to Ken's locker, doing a quick look around to make sure nobody's watching. He puts in her locker code,
and open the locker to find a note addressed to 'My Stalker'. He grabbed the note and replaced it with a plushie. He opened the envelope. It read:"Hey stalker, I hope you find this. If you know so much about me you probably already know my phone number but just in case xxx-xxx-xxxx call me : ) I want to know you.
He smiled, reading the note.
'I can't believe this is actually happening' he thought. 'She wants to meet me.' he was mentally fist pumping the air. He put the note in his bag and smiled as he walked to his first class
