"Where's Naruto?" Iruka asked one cloudy day. Naruto always came to class, sure he would be late at times, but always arrived. Today however he was no were to be found. The kids looked around and shrugged, a few seemed happy he was gone. But Iruka felt worried. At the end of the day he made his way out of the school. He realized immediately that he didn't know where Naruto lived. He decided to ask the owner of Ichiraku, since Naruto came there all the time, maybe he knew.

"Your not planning to cause trouble are you?" The owner had said.

"Not at all, he just never came to class today and I wanted to make sure he was ok." Iruka promised. The man begrudgingly gave Naruto's address and he was on his way. As he made his way he saw how shady the neighborhood was. He walked up the stairs to the apartment complex, he could hear a couple shouting. Glass littered the walkway, and when he made his way to the door, he saw it was spray painted. Not Naruto's kind, it had words like "monster" and "go away" to name a few. He reached for the door to find it was unlocked. He opened it. Iruka was not at all prepared to see what he saw. The apartment was a one room. The floors were uneven and covered in trash and wreckage. The place was vandalized and looked like a fight took place. He turned to see to his right laying halfway on an old mattress a small body. Iruka lost the ability to breathe. The boy was covered in cuts and bruises. And his head was bleeding so much could be dead. Iruka rushed forward trying to remember the medical proseges he had been taught.

The boy was barely breathing, Iruka felt tears welled up, he started to frantically find something to stop the bleeding. He found a rage which he tried to wrap around one of the wounds, only to find so many others. He pulled the boy close to him and tried to hear his heart, he started to yell.

"HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE!" He doubted anyone could hear, the couple was so loud and the boy was looking paler by the second. He began to lift him up and ran out the door. He had to get to a hospital. Rushing across town he made his way through the doors. "Please, someone help!" A nurse rushed forward with a concerned look on her face. She looked down at the boy. He look completely shifted.

"Its only some scratches, he will be fine." Iruka was shocked, rage building up.

"HES BLEEDING TO DEATH."

"No its not, would you please get that monster out of here? It's scaring the patients." Did this woman have no heart? Could she not see a child was dying.

"He needs medical treatment right now." Iruka pleaded. He couldn't die. He couldn't die. "Please just help him!"

The woman looked annoyed and then pulled a roll of bandages out her pocket and handed it to him. "Here, now please leave or I will call the authorities." Iruka for the first time felt like killing someone. How could they do this to a child? He didn't know medical ninjutsu, and Naruto was just a boy, how could they treat him like this. How could he treat him like this? He pulled the boy closer and ran out the door, the Hokage, he would have to help. He ran as fast as he could, constantly checking Naruto if he was breathing. He made his way through rushing past security.

"ANYONE PLEASE HELP!" Iruka burst through the door of the hokage's office. Tears running down his cheek holding a bleeding child. The Hokage looked stunned, but before he could react 2 ANBU rushed forward. They pulled the boy out of Iruka's grasp and laid him on the floor. The one with the Bird mask began to use medical Ninjutsu. The other in the dog mask watched over the boy. Iruka crashed to the ground, practically crawling over to the boy.

"Please tell me he's going to be ok." He whimpered. The Dog masked ANBU replied harshly.

"Why do you care?"

"He's my student!"

"So you don't want a lawsuit?"

"HE WAS DYING!" Irukay yelled, the ANBU turned to him and growled.

"This is not any of your business. I know you don't actually care."

"Of course I do!" Iruka cried.

"Would you die for him?"

"Yes." And Iruka was surprised that that was true. The ANBU, startled by the lack of hesidance in his response, fell quiet. Iruka felt the same, almost a month ago, he would have hesitated, he would have wondered if he would. He might have even thought that Naruto deserved this. But now, all that mattered to Iruka, was Naruto.
