Elena and Elijah have always known that they were supposed to hate each other. Their parents are the rulers of two rival kingdoms that have been locked in a bitter feud for generations. Despite never having met, they have grown up hearing stories about the other kingdom and its people, and have been taught to believe that they are the enemy. Elena and Elijah have never questioned this.

Elena stood at the edge of the ballroom, looking out at the sea of people in front of her. She was the daughter of the queen of one of the most powerful kingdoms in the land, and she was used to being the center of attention. But tonight, she felt like a fish out of water.

It was the annual royal ball, and all the kingdoms had sent their finest princes and princesses to attend. Elena's mother had insisted that she come, even though she didn't want to. She had heard stories about the other kingdoms and their people, and she had no desire to meet any of them.

As she stood there, lost in her thoughts, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see a tall, handsome young man standing behind her. He had dark hair and piercing blue eyes, and he was wearing a fine suit of armor. "Hello," he said, smiling. "I'm Elijah of Sylvanor. And you are?"

Elena looked him up and down, then turned her nose up in disdain. "I'm Elena," she said coldly. "And I suggest you leave me alone."

Elijah looked taken aback, "Wait you're Elena? Like Elena of Aquaria?"

"Yes I am and I have no interest in talking to you," Elena said, her voice dripping with contempt. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have better things to do."

With that, she turned on her heel and walked away, leaving Elijah standing there. Elena felt a small sense of satisfaction. She didn't need anyone, and she certainly didn't need him. She was the queen's daughter, and she was going to make sure everyone knew it.
