"Mom. Please," I pleaded as I loaded the last of my boxes into the U-Haul. I suppose at this point I knew my incessant pleas were of no use, so I did what every angsty teenager does when they're upset. I decided upon antagonizing my mother until everyone was equally as upset as I was. In reality, this move was a great thing for my Mom and I. Mom was a writer. Moving to California meant she would be closer to her new publisher, but it meant leaving New York. This is where my friends are. My school. My job. My life. Everything.

"I'm going to be a Junior in high school for Christ's sake. Can't you move after I graduate?" I exclaimed to my Mom.

"Alex, we're going," my mom said with finality in her voice. "

Mission accomplished, I thought. Now we're both upset and it's going to be a long drive to California.

A/N: Go ahead and read the first chapter because this is poorly written and will be edited in the near future. It really only serves to set a mood in the story and show some of Alex's perspective of the move. I promise it will get better(:
