Russia attempts to invade another country, thinking it'd be a quick and simple victory, but the operation goes horribly wrong. In the retreat, Russian units get separated, and a few end up on the border with Poland, who is neutral in the conflict.
The Russians are injured, exhausted, and low on supplies. Their only hope at survival is to flee further into Poland for shelter.
Poland takes them in, but are obviously cautious and suspicious of the Russians, so they make sure to keep a close eye on them
