Chapter Twenty Two,
"Heart Ache."

We walked along the breach of summer and winter, I stepped upon the snow and he along the crisp leaves and glaring sun. It was if our worlds were not the same, like a pane of glass should separate us. I reached toward him in confused wonder and he took my hand in his, the blazing heat of his palm around my fingers made my skin burn hot, uncomfortable.

My hair blew around my neck in soft curls and brushed against my lips, the pallid cream of my hand pushed my fringe back from around my steely grey eyes and my face was hot with excursion. A wave of heat touched my cheeks and bloomed over my nose as I gazed up toward his bewildered trance.

"Yuki," he said my name and it set my blood on fire.

He held my gaze and the corner of his mouth turned up in a devilish smile. The way he looked at me was as if he had never seen my face before. He took me in fully, searching my eyes, my lips, my sheer embarrassment, his pupils dilated and his eyebrows creased together. Subconsciously he leaned closer. I felt myself lean forward too, almost deliriously, my mind and body at conflict.

"It's probably not a good idea, you know," I warned him, though I did not move from my outstretched place.

He caught my blushed cheeks in the cup of his hands, the touch of his skin on mine was almost too hot to bare. He pressed forward and closed the gap between us, his body met with the cold air it began steaming, the vapour cloaked him in a fine mist. My words had made him eager, and his lips crashed against mine as if he wished to wash away my doubt in the tide of his raw emotion.

My body folded neatly into the curve of his, his hands pulled my waist into him and I arced backwards, reaching up so that our lips could meet. He towered over me and I found myself folding my arms around his neck, my fingers in his short crop of hair. My heart thundered and I could feel the temperature rise around me, our lips parted and a gasp left my lungs. It was a seductive noise, layered in pleasure, it made my stomach twist to hear it, as if it made everything more real.

His deep growling answered me and I was thrown down in the snow, the cold embraced me like a cushion and it was short-lasting, for an eclipse of hot skin bared down on me. I felt the warmth of his mouth draw kisses on my neck and jaw. His burning hands pulled my sweater up and exposed my stomach, it fell around my naked breasts, my voice shook as I cried out but I did not move to stop him, my arms were laid around my black waving curls that surrounded my head like a dark halo upon the frozen earth. His knees pressed into the snow around my waist, his forehead against my chin as he breathed deeply into the hollow of my neck.

"Yuki." He said again and the passion made my heart ache.

Time passed and I dared open my eyes to see him gazing down. He had seated himself upright and was taking in my twisting figure in the snow.

My dampened jeans clung tightly to the curve of my hips, the way I was pinned down made the fabric stretch and the button threatened to pop under his weight. The frill of my white underwear teased at the edges. His hands explored the plain of my stomach and stopped high above my waist at either side. My chest raised and fell with every breath and he stared red-faced at the perfect double curves half uncovered from under the cotton of my loose navy shirt. He swallowed nervously and I thought I saw sweat bead down his chin.

He moved his closest hand up and I stopped breathing altogether as his thumb brushed against the soft tender skin of my breast, his body tensed and he waisted for my reaction. I breathed out slowly and my chest dipped down to the cup of his fingers, I saw his cheeks darken several shades and his eyes drew up toward my face. I was worn out, my lips parted as I began breathing in deep steady gasps, my pink cheeks burned and I covered my forehead with the sleeve of my sweater, shielding my expression of euphoria from him. My eyes must of startled him because he immediately fell forward to kiss me, his hands tucking my body away in the folds of soft cotton.

"What do I have to say to make you mine?" He asked me, his words were muffled against my lips and they pressed down a second time. His tongue, hot and wet felt its way into my mouth. My mind couldn't string enough together to form a sentence, and I was too busy to speak.

I heard soft crunching in the snow, like footsteps that paced too close for comfort. My eyes snapped open in that instant and I was alarmed to have heard it in my splendour. Zoro looked hurt as I jerked away from him but composed himself quickly as I scanned around us, and he too heard the falling of large feet.

A dark figure lurked towards us and Zoro helped me stand, his hands reached for his katana, his stance protective before me. The broad shoulders of a grey-coated wolf circled into view and it was almost human in its shape. It stood upon thin sprawling legs, it's arms almost as long did not touch the snow.

Behind me more shuffling and I turned to press my back against Zoro's, a glass blade materialised in my hands. I could still feel the heat in my face, the adrenaline in my veins. My body was a nervous wreck, and my teeth clenched together.

"Are we always going to be interrupted like this?" I jested, my voice strained.

"This is a first for me." He flinched, "The wolves I mean, well, I mean, that too I guess."
