3rd pov:
The next morning was to put it simply...dreaded by Emma so when the sun came flooding in to her room from her large water facing window she sobbed a little into the side of her silk pillow. By now the whole of the island would know what happened at the docks more specifically the whole of her new school would know. If they didn't already dislike her for being a kook they would now also think she was dramatic and probably a liar. Yes she did shout about her life problems on the dock but should they have all stopped to listen... NO! But of course they did and then they went home and told there parent and then their parents went to tell there neighbours and they would tell there friends and so on until the story was contorted to suit whatever views they wanted to have on the Armstrong family. Then another thought hit her like a train. Jj and Pope will also be at school... well pope would be for sure. Jj has a unpredictable reputation for drinking to much or getting to high and not showing up the next day so she was unsure if he would be at school. alone this sparked hope for the day giving her the peace of mind to pull her self up from her bed and stride toward her wardrobe. Today was going to be the first of hopefully many days that she didn't have to factor in rafes opinion when finding a outfit. After searching thought her wardrobe for a while she picked out a plan white bodysuit and light blue washed shorts with her classic gold hoops along with other simple pieces to match.
As soon as she cracked open her bedroom door she could her parents discussing her downstairs in the kitchen. Silently she gave herself a three second count down like a adrenaline Junkie about to jump out of a plane for the first time. That's exactly how she felt- like she was about to jump out of a plane for the first time with no parachute and a fear of free falling and in a way she was right.
One step after the other the pit in Emma's stomach, grew wider and deeper. Then another voice came into play this time the voice wasn't angry and forcefully like her parents had been. instead the voice was soft and weaved with care for the girl listening in.
"He was cheating on her I don't think you understand that" the voice continued as she poked her head around the corner. "He may be my son but I don't believe he is a good person" her eyes grew wide once her back was pressed flush against the cream painted wall at the bottom of the stair case. Ward Cameron was here and to defend her- what kind of crack was slipped into his coffee this morning and even digger question by who it felt like everyone on the island was against her and yet the father of her ex was defending her to her own parents. It felt like a fever dream that she didn't want to wake from.
"Mr Cameron she has put are family name to shame it doesn't matter why" her mother spoke throwing her hands in the air and slamming the back onto the marble counter. This must have been the first time in her life that Emma saw her own mother disagree with the person she placed on a pedestal and worshiped.
The debate went on in Emma's head should she A) face her mother now whilst ward is her so she wouldn't yell as loud in fear of embarrassing herself or B) run out of the house and away from her problems and hope that by the time she got home her mother had come to her sense and decided that it wasn't that big of a deal and at the end of the day she did have a gun held to her head.
From what she had heard mr Cameron was on her side. He was supportive of her decision to do what she did.she pushed all worry's to the back of her mind and after taking in more air than ever before she pulled her feet into step.one in front of the other until she was stood in the middle of the kitchen.
Instinctively Ward had turned himself around on the bar stool he was sat on to give the younger girl an empathetic smile whilst her mother shot lazars at her from across the room.non of them dared to say a word for a minute or two until ward finally decided to put an end to the silence.
"Good morning Emma... how did you sleep?" At first the question sounded rhetorical. Was he defending her? Or was it a lapse in her judgement? "Ummm ok I guess how have you been?" It sounded more fragile than she meant it to but perhaps that was a good thing. Maybe just maybe it would provoke some sympathy in her stone cold mother.
"Yes I'm ok thank you darling I was just explaining to your mother how sorry I am about my son's behaviour" the larger man stated softening his tone to Match the girls. Emma smiled softly and continued to walk out the door, this was a good sign if anyone could convince her mother it wasn't her fault it will be ward Cameron.————————————————
