It was the beginning of October, dry air, cold weather and the trees losing their leaves, starting to look like skeletal figures. Early in the morning, before the birds even began to sing, a young boy ran into his mother's room to give her a rude awakening.

"Mom!" He jumped up and down excitedly on the bed, waking his mother up.

"Yes?" She groaned.

"It's the Spooky Month! Get up! Get up! Get up!" He continues to yell flailing his limbs. She sat up wiping her eyes and staring at her son, she was used to this.

"Okay, I know son- I'll be up in a minute, go get yourself some breakfast." she smiles softy. He stops bouncing and leaves the room running downstairs.

Lila was Skids mother, every October was just like this, Skid getting over excited and waking her up way too early. He adored Halloween and wore his Halloween costume almost every single day. Of course sometimes Lila would have to get him to take it off and act normal, but she mainly let him do whatever he wanted.

Lila got out of bed and stretched before going downstairs. Skid was at the table eating his cereal, swinging his legs as he ate. "So, what do you want to do for the first day of the Spooky Month?" Lila asked as she started making herself something to drink.

"I wanna see Pump! And I wanna decorate the house and I wanna-!"

"Hey, slow down, we can't get everything done in one day!" She laughs a little taking a sip from her cup.

"Okay, but can we at least visit Pump?" Skid asks.

"Of course, and if we have time maybe we could start carving our pumpkins?"

"Yeah!"

Skid finishes his cereal then rushes out the door to go to Pumps house, Lila wasn't fully ready but followed anyway, she wasn't letting him go alone. As they both walked down the street, Skid looked around at everything.

He could see the Hatzgang in the distance talking about something, Kevin going to work looking bored as ever, and two familiar police men nearby, one holding doughnuts the other talking away to him. Skid smiled at the sight.

The two reached Pumps house, Skid knocked on the door and Susie answered. "Oh, you're here. Should've expected it by now to be honest." She said.

"Is Pump in!?" Skid asks.

"Yeah, he's in his room." Skid pushes past Susie and runs to Pumps room going inside. "Hey!" Susie yelps, she watches Skid run off looking somewhat annoyed. She then turns back to Lila "He seems hyper as ever."

"I know, I know, but I don't think he can help it. I'm not even sure if he'll grow out of it." Lila says as she walks in and sets her stuff down, sitting down on the nearby couch.

"Yeahhh, I'm not sure if Pump will either." Susie says following and sitting on the floor, legs crossed. Mr. Wonder, Pump and Susie's grandpa, was sleeping in his chair as normal.

"So, how are things?" Lila asks, Susie looks around a bit before answering.

"Well, our parents still aren't answering our calls. It's kind of concerning, it's been a while since they first left."

"Yeah, I wonder what's happening with them, they've been completely silent on my end too."

"Even grandpa hasn't been able to get a hold of them." Susie looks over to her grandpa who's still sleeping.

"You don't say..." Lila says, she silently thinks to herself about the situation.

"Well, how about you? What's been going on with you and Skid?" Susie asks looking over again.
