Just Another Halloween [Spooky Month Fanfic] [UNFINISHED]

Chapter 2: Rats, Bats, Cats & Everything Fast

Patty was standing over an operating table working on something, she's struggling, looking confused. She let's out a large sigh, turning off her lamp, taking off her gloves, putting them to the side and leaving the room. The body she was looming over was left in the dark by itself. It layed still, motionless, silent.

Until, it's eyes opened...

Skid wakes up early as normal, he gets up and puts his costume on. He leaves his room and goes outside, he didn't tell his mom though. He walked down the street, the wind was quite bad, it was cold, it didn't help he was wearing his thin Halloween costume, he realises maybe he should've grabbed a sweater before he left.

Walking down the street, kicking around the leaves, he thinks about the conversation he had with his mother the previous night. She seemed upset, and she seemed to avoid all the questions he was asking. It confused him, he was innocent and didn't understand the situation.

Skid kept walking before something caught his eye. It was a man, black shaggy hair, glasses, wild eyes, and a big wide smile. Something about him seemed familiar, but he didn't know what. He walked closer to get a better look, but it seems the man had noticed him.

"IT'S YOU!" The man yelled, he stared in both shock and anger as he looked down at Skid.

Skid started backing away, he recognised his voice, it was the same as the Happy Fella that attacked him and his friends a while back. He seemed genuinely scared. "Hey! Don't come any closer! I'll get my mom to put you in the oven again!"

"No oven can stop me now!...  I'm going to get you for what you've done to me!" He laughs maniacally, it's clear he's lost it from his time as a Happy Fella. "You kids RUINED me! You've ruined my LIFE! Now I'm gonna ruin yours!" He keeps walking towards Skid, laughing with snorts in between.

Skid started to run away, he started running to Pumps house as fast as possible. Not stopping for anyone.

"HEY! GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE BRAT!" He chased after Skid as fast as he could.

Skid was running past Robert, Robert stopped to say hi.

"Hey dude! What's up?" Robert asked happily. Skid ran past him and he looked Skids way confused, he didn't know why he was being ignored.

Dexter continued chasing Skid, running past Robert. Robert looked in shock as he realised Skid was being chased down. He quickly sprinted to get his friends for help.

Skid knocked on the door repeatedly hoping someone would open the door in time. Susie opened the door.

"Hello? What're you doing here?" Susie asked confused. Skid runs past her in a rush and she just sighs and closes the door not thinking much of it.

Skid hides behind the couch, Susie gets even more confused, she walks around to him, getting to his height to see what's wrong.

"Hey, what's wrong? Why're you hiding?" She asks.

"I'm being chased! There's a man trying to hurt me!" Skid yelps.

Susie stares at him concerned "I- What-?" she laughs nervously "You're joking, right?"

"NO! I'M NOT!" He's almost in tears.

Susie grows more concerned. Grandpa shuffled in his chair, Skid yelling was causing him to wake up.

"What's happening-?" Grandpa asks tiredly.

"Uh- NOTHING! Don't worry about it! Go back to sleep!" Susie says springing up, making sure not to stress her grandfather out.

Skid stays where he is, worried. Grandpa believes Susie and goes back to sleep unaware of the situation. Pump walks in wondering what's going on.

"Why's Skid here? Why was he screaming?" Pump asks.

Skid stares at him tearing up. Pump walks over and sits beside him seeming worried. Susie turns back to them.

"He's being chased apparently." Susie says, she still doesn't fully believe it, she still thinks it might be a prank or something along those lines.

Someone knocks on the door and Susie jumps. She walks over to the door slowly as Skid and Pump peek from behind the couch.

Suise opens the door. There stood Dexter with his menacing grin.

"Hello there!" Dexter says.

Susie doesn't really know what to say. "Hey? Who are you, why're you here!?" she starts to yell out of panic.

Dexter just raises his hand and gestures to himself. "I'm Dexter the exterminator, at your service! I kill rats, bat, cats, and everything fast!" he smiles as he counts with his fingers.

Susie stares. "Uhuh... We didn't hire an exterminatior." She says.

"You didn't?.... Hmmm, strange..." He says, he pauses. "Well, would you like a free exterminatior service? I'll kill any pests I find and you don't even have to pay me!" he says happily.

"No thanks..." she tries to close over the door, but Dexter blocks the door with his foot and plies it open again.

"No I insist!" He says as he forces the door open and pushes past Susie.

Susie gets knocked back and continues to panic, she signals to Skid and Pump to leave. Skid and Pump run to Susie's room before Dexter could see them.

Dexter looks around, searching everywhere he can. Susie follows him so that if he got close to Skid and Pump she could convince him to leave. Dexter goes ahead and empties all the drawers, lifts the couch, looks down the toilet, checks all the cabinets and finally checks Pumps room. He finds nothing and moves on to Susie's room, but before he could enter her room, Susie blocked the way.

"HEY! THAT'S MY ROOM!" She yells.

Dexter stares at her in surprise. "Woah- Woah- Woah-! There could be rats in there and you wouldn't even know it! Don't you want me to get rid of them?"

"Well, there could be, but, I'm not giving you permission to enter my room, and don't you think a grown man barging into a teenage girls room seems a little strange? I'm sure the police wouldn't wanna hear about that one." Susie says crossing her arms.

Dexter frowns. "Right- Right- Well I'll be leaving then." He lost all happiness and excitement in his voice and he left angrily. He didn't find what he came here for.

Susie smiles and walks into her room. Skid and Pump peek out from under the bed and stare at her.

"Is he gone?" Skid asks.

"Yep! I got him to leave!" She faintly smiles.

Skid gets up and hugs her tightly, he was grateful for Susie protecting him. Pump smiled and got up hugging Susie too. Susie rolled her eyes, but she eventually leaned down and hugged them both back.

"Thanks for saving me Susie!" Skid says.

"No problem." Susie replies.

Lila wakes up and leaves her room, she goes to the kitchen and looks around, she was confused. Skids pumpkin was still there but the candle was out. Skid was nowhere to be seen though. She walked into Skids room.

"Skid! Come on, wake up! We need to start decorating today!" She says playfully as she walks over and sits on his bed. "I know it's your second favourite part of The Spooky Month! And hey, we can buy new ones this year! Make our house look extra spooky!" She giggles to herself, but there was no reply.

Lila goes silent. "I'll even wear my costume if you really want me too!"

No reply.

She goes silent again. "Is this because I wouldn't answer your questions last night...?"

No reply.

She sighs. She places her hand on the lump on the bed, but her eyes widen when she touches it. She lifts the blankets revealing it was just a stuffed animal. She stands up. She starts panicking realising her son is nowhere to be seen. She rushes outside to look for him.
