CHAPTER NINETY FOUR !
☆
The hilltop's reaction as the group walked through the gate was just how estella expected it to be. with jesus dead and a prisoner in the walls, things quickly went downhill. jesus had been a sacred member of the hilltop for such a long time. before maggie, he was the person that everybody in the community looked up to. the man that had everyone's best interests. and when maggie left, jesus was the leader. he took care of everything. and now, he was gone.
estella wiped a tear that fell down her face as daryl, magna, and yumiko got jesus down off the horse. everyone was distraught, all sobbing. aaron handled jesus, and michonne and daryl got the girl. they held her by both of her arms as they walked her through the hilltop, trying to reach the cells.
"is this who did it?" tammy rose asked as they walked past.
"no. one of her people." michonne muttered.
"you lockin' her up?" she asked. estella just kept walking, waiting outside of the cells whilst they got the girl through.
"we're getting answers." tara replied.
"and then what? tara, jesus trusted you, so now we're all looking to you. but people are gonna want justice for this. and when that time comes, we're gonna look to you for that, too."
"i know." tara replied, before walking over to the cells.
they walked down the steps, and put the girl in one of them. she just watched as daryl put her in, she had never been down in the cells before, only when it was used as a storage unit. usually, she would take in her surroundings, but she didn't. she was more focused on the girl in front of her. she had a blindfold over her eyes, and she was completely dirty from head to toe. it was clear to see that whoever these people were, lived outside.
"get in." daryl said, pushing her inside of the cell.
"daryl, estella?" a voice rang out, making estella quickly turn.
"henry?" she questioned, seeing him in the cell.
"what's going on?" he asked her.
"jesus is dead." she told him, he furrowed his eyebrows.
"what?" he asked.
"he died. he got stabbed in the chest." she said, before looking back at daryl and michonne, and the girl in the cell. "i have to go. i'll talk to you later."
she quickly walked over to see the girl on a metal chair. michonne pulled the blindfold from her eyes roughly. estella stood in the middle of them, daryl to her right, and michonne to her left. she wanted to get to the bottom of the situation. find out who they are and why they killed jesus, or followed rosita and eugene.
tara came into the cell, standing behind estella with her arms in a neat fold. estella gave her a nod, which she returned. estella then turned back to the girl, glaring at her.
"no more bullshit. how many more of you are there?" michonne asked her, her voice strong.
"i already told you. they're all dead, my family is dead. please just stop." the girl cried.
"not until you start answering our questions." michonne replied.
"what's your name? start with your name." tara said.
"i told you, i don't have one." she cried, looking at tara.
"stop lying! you were alive before the turn, you had a name. you remember it. i know you do. tell us your name!" estella demanded.
"none of us do. none of us did." she cried, " that's not how it worked."
"how did it work?" estella asked, growing impatient.
"why do you wear those skins?" daryl asked, from where he had moved outside the bars. "answer!"
"they were— they were good people. we were good. it's what we did to live. that's— that's all we wanted to do. live."
"oh, you're saying you had to do this?" tara barked.
"you wouldn't understand." she said back.
"then make us understand. what the hell were you doing?" michonne asked.
"we— we were just trying to see if they were good people, too. but then you attacked us and now they're dead! they're all dead. and i don't have anything." she cried even louder.
michonne leaned in closer to her, "what did your people know about us? do they know about this place? huh?"
"i don't know— i don't know anything. they didn't tell me anything. please stop asking me. just leave me alone, please. please leave me alone." the girl broke down.
estella took a step back, sympathy running in her body at the look on the girls face. she was clearly young, maybe a couple years older than estella at most. she ran a stressed out hand over her face, before walking out of the cell to stand next to daryl. she put her head on his arm, just watching as michonne and tara spoke.
michonne and tara just looked at each other before walking out of the cell, and locking it behind them. estella and daryl followed close behind them, coming out of the cells and out into the open.
"i don't trust a word coming out of her mouth." michonne said.
"we'll get it out of 'er." daryl said, estella looked at him.
"we'll try again in the morning." tara said.
"you'll have to do it without me. i'm taking my people back first thing. i can't risk them not knowing about this back home." michonne said. tara nodded her head.
"okay. thanks for being here and for helping. that group you brought in, i'm gonna let them know they can stay. guess it's my call now. that's what he would've done." tara said.
"thanks, tara." michonne said, estella turned to her.
"will you tell judith that i'm sorry i'm not back as fast as i said i would be, but i'm gonna come home soon? and tell her to keep extra care of my scrapbook and letter." she said, michonne nodded her head, giving estella a small smile.
"of course i will." she said, putting a hand on her shoulder. tara walked off, so michonne looked to daryl. "keeping her here is a risk, you know that. we both do."
"yeah. i know. i'll get 'er to talk." daryl said.
"if she doesn't, you know what you have to do." michonne said.

this chapter is now cut short. i wrote something in here that i did not feel like i handled greatly. i didn't write estella's story in this topic well enough, therefore i deleted it
