BAHRAIN-> RACE WEEKEND: THURSDAY->MEDIA DAY

"When you say personal problems do you mean your relationship with Charles because we all know the two of you dated?"

I just rewatched the interview Sky Sports did with Y/n a week ago, before testing, and who do they think they are to be asking her about our relationship. That's the past and period. We don't need to explain that to the public because it's none of their bussines.

"Charles, are you coming?" Carlos asks.

"Yeah, mate. Just give me a second."

I took my sunglasses and ran to Carlos.

"Where are we going to?" I ask.

"Don't tell me you forgot."

I look at him with a blank expression on my face.

"So you did forget. Is it because you watched that interview of Y/n with Sky Sports?"

How the hell did he know what was bothering me? Am I really that obvious?

"Anyway, where did you say we were going to?" I ask again, changing the subject.

"I see you're not ready to talk about her so, to answer your question, we are heading to the drivers' press conference."

Holy shit! I forgot that it was today. I didn't even check to see if Y/n was in the same group as me! What if she is and what if-

"Don't worry mate. Y/n isn't in your group. She is in mine, with Max. "

"Wait, aren't teammates supposed to be in different groups? How are they in a group together?"

"Apparently, Red Bull asked if their drivers can be in the same conference because Y/n hasn't been in the sport for a while at this point and they also said that she wouldn't feel comfortable being in a room with people she hasn't met. "

"Bullshit if you ask me."

"I know but FIA allowed it, probably because she's the first female F1 driver after so many years, so we just have to deal with it. "

That fucker Max, again. Why is he always with Y/n? I've always had a feeling he liked her but I know he is in a relationship now so why is he still going after my girl? He has to learn to back off before I kick his a-

"Charles, mate, are you okay? I just told you Y/n isn't in your group. You should be celebrating and not thinking about whatever it is that's stressing you out right now. Is there anything else wrong?"

I can't tell him that I am jealous of Max and his "friendship" with Y/n. I have to think of something else.

"Have I told you Charlotte and I broke up a while ago?"

"What?! I noticed that she wasn't at the last few races but I thought you said she was busy with work?"

"Yeah. Well, we ended things so that we could both focus on our careers. So I wasn't lying when I said that."

"Mate, I am sorry. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, mate. I'll get over her. Pierre has been helping me with that." I smile saying that to my Spanish friend.

"Let me guess, clubs and bars over the break?"

"Bingo!" we both laugh.

"If anything, I am glad you are handling it somewhat well."

"Me too."

We continued walking to get to the thursday press conference on time. As Carlos said we were in different groups and I was in the first one so I'll have to go in while Carlos will be finishing some other media duties.

Thank God I am not in the same group as Y/n. It would've been so awkward if we were put in the same group, let alone seated next to each other. I don't know what I would say to her or if I should even say anything at all. She would probably act like she doesn't know me and just ignore me the whole time we'd be there.

We met ten years ago but it feels as if it was in another lifetime. We started avoiding each other after we broke up and haven't spoken since. I never even asked her to return the ring because I didn't want to see her again knowing that I wouldn't get to spend the rest of my life with her, the woman I love. If I would've seen her after that fight, I would've never let her go.
