"There's contact between a Ferrari and a Red Bull!" Crofty shouted waiting to see whose cars touched.

"And there's been contact between the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz and the Red Bull of Max Verstappen. Luckily the contact hasn't damaged the cars too much so both drivers will continue the race."

Y/n's POV:

Phew, that was a close one. I just saw Carlos and Max make contact and it didn't look that good. I think Max might have a broken front wing. There's definitely some damage on Carlos' car but I can't see it from here.

Anyway, I've gained another position in the chaos so I am P5 now. Three to go.

Lap 8/57

"Charles, the car is looking good. Let me know if you need anything." I heard Xavi speak through my radio.

"One thing," I said "what position is Y/n?"

"Y/n is in P3 +4.547 seconds behind you. I repeat, Y/n is in P3."

Shit, I was right. Honestly, I was hoping I'd be wrong and that Y/n wouldn't catch up to me so quickly. That Red Bull is a fucking machine. I don't remember them being that quick last year. Pierre said he heard rumors that their car didn't change much since last year but clearly he was wrong.

Actually, maybe he is right and the car itself is pretty much the same but it's the driver that makes the difference.

Lap 33/57

"Update on Max." I asked my engineer.

"Max is P5 and cathing up to P4."

I'm bored, I've been riding on Charles' ass for the last fifteen laps. I overtook George to get into P2 like twenty laps ago, I think. The only thing I hated about Formula 1 when I was watching Charles race was the huge number of laps. Whoever thought that was a good idea either wanted to massacre the drivers or the fans, there's no in between. Don't get me wrong, it can be exciting but only if the drivers are constantly fighting and overtaking each other. If one car is a fucking rocket compared to the others then it's just dumb to watch its dominance for a long time cause, with every lap, they just extend the lead so no one can fight them for the position which means no excitement.

Lap 45/57

"How far off is Y/n?" I asked Xavi noticing that she is getting closer as if she was ready to overtake me.

"+1.327 seconds behind but she is closing the gap." Xavi answered with worry in his voice.

"Can I push a bit harder?"

"Tyres are fine so you should be able to do that but don't overdo it." Xavi warned.

Okay, I need to extend my lead so that Y/n can't get the opportunity to overtake. I have to keep this up for 12 more laps so it's now or never.

Y/n's POV:

I see Charles is trying to extend the gap between us but I am not worried. I have a plan and he won't see it coming.

Lap 53/57

"Charles?" I heard Xavi's voice on the radio.

I hope everything is okay with the car because it can't be about Y/n. Last I checked I was 8 seconds ahead of her and we only have 4 laps to go so there's no way that she is right behind me. No fucking way.

"What is it Xavi?" I asked, hoping he won't say what I think he will.

"Drive faster, it's Y/n."

What the actual fuck?!

"What the fuck do you mean it's Y/n?"

"She is right behind you!"

Just as he said that I got a glimpse of Y/n's front wing right next to my back right tyre. This can't be happening! How the fuck did she close the gap. I didn't drop in pace and there's no way that Red Bull's car is that much better than ours.

"Ladies and gentleman, we have a battle for P1 with less than 4 laps to go! It the Ferrari of Leclerc and the Red Bull of his ex girlfriend Y/n Dekker. Buckle up cause we'll be in the edge of our seats till the end of the race." Crofty notified the public.

"Dekker is constantly pushing on Leclerc and she wants to overtake. It's a battle between the two. Their cars are side by side now as they go into the second corner with Dekker having the inside line but Leclerc cuts her off, leaving no space for her to pass him. Brilliant move by the Monegasque! But she is back! She's using the slipstream on the straight and... and she overtakes the Ferrari with two laps to go! Another amazing move today!"

"Leclerc isn't giving up as he is right behind his opponent waiting to enter the DRS zone. And he has it and he overtakes her! This battle will go all the way to the finish line as we are entering the final lap and the first two drivers are less than a second apart!"

"We are at turn 12 of the final lap and Charles Leclerc, the man from pole, is leading the race by less than a second. He has overtaken Dekker at the end of the previous lap and she hasn't faught for the position since which means that either she's given up on it or she'll make one last attempt to get the position back. The cars number 16 and number 9 have entered the final straight and it is now or never. What will Dekker do?"

Y/n's POV:

Here goes nothing. This is it, my last chance. I have to take it. It's now or never.

As Y/n and Charles were approaching the last two turns of the track, Y/n started attacking again. She exctracted the maximum out of the car....

"Unbelievable! Y/n Dekker has overtaken Leclerc at the exit of the last turn! She is leading Leclerc down the straight and if she crosses the line first it will be a win on her debut in Formula One. And-"
