“Teacher, someone’s looking for you.” A girl called out to Dean Xu, and pointed outside the window.

The hand pressing down on Sheng Wang was finally lifted, Dean Xu nodded at the person looking for him outside the window, saying, “The meeting, right? Coming.”

He straightened up, pointed to the earpiece still dangling from Sheng Wang’s ears and said, “Oh yes, today’s reporting is an exception. Tomorrow onwards, things like mobile phones and PSP should not appear in the classroom anymore, if I catch you, hey—”

His pointer finger jabbed twice, and he rummaged through the table of the guy sitting in front at a speed faster than anyone could react.

“What the fuck!” The guy immediately sprung up, the speed at which he held on to his school bag was as if he had been electrocuted.

“You think just because you covered it up there’s any use? This is already the second time, Gao Tianyang.” Dean Xu raised his hand, and waved the newly confiscated phone, saying to Sheng Wang, “See this yet, this is a negative example. Also, where’s the discipline rep?”

A girl sitting in the first row stuck her head out. “Here.”

“Using a handphone, deduct three points from civility. Swearing, deduct one point.”

“Okay.”

Dean Xu finished a major transaction, and walked away with his spoils in satisfaction.

Sheng Wang watched the seize in close distance, his expression a little lost. The guy named Gao Tianyang looked at him, his gaze gradually turning bitter. A few seconds later, Sheng Wang finally reacted and quietly removed his earpiece, and stuffed it into his bag along with his phone, so as to avoid further agitating people.

Gao Tianyang was still looking at him.

Sheng Wang thought for a bit, and politely consoled him. “Accept fate.”

“Fuck.” Gao Tianyang did not keep it up, he looked like he didn’t know if he should laugh or cry as he wiped his face, and said, “It’s fine, it’s not even the first time anymore. Anyway, they check for phones every once in a while, nobody here has ever escaped.”

“Oh.” Sheng Wang nodded, and then puzzled, “Then what were you looking at me for?”

Gao Tianyang: “I’m just curious.”

Sheng Wang: “?”

“We were just talking about it before you entered the classroom, I even Baidu’d your original school. Why have you lost your will to live at such a young age, and transfer into Jiangsu in year two of high school?”

Sheng Wang gave a hollow laugh. “Go ask my dad.”

Gao Tianyang rubbed his buzzcut, and wanted to gossip for a bit more, but was unfortunately stopped by the school bell. The students sitting sloppily and chattering idly all sat up straight; the people who slept for most of inter-class period all raised their heads, stretched their arms and necks, and dug out a stack of test papers from their tables.

When everyone returned to their seats and no longer clustered in groups, Sheng Wang suddenly stood out way more—because everyone in this class sat! In! Single! Seats! Only him had his table placed right next to someone else’s, a deskmate who slept like the dead.
