Beyoncé opened the doors to the room. Kelly was holding the sleeping baby in the hospital bed. "Parents meet our son, Sir Shawn Rowland-Knowles." Beyoncé introduced them to their grandson.

Shawn had just come back from getting his tests done. They said that he is a healthy baby boy. The parents came closer. Kelly and Beyoncé agreed to not let the parents hold the baby yet, and their parents and friends respected their wishes. Beyoncé's and Kelly's parents were so happy to meet their first grandchild.

"Hey dad. You want to lead the prayer?" Beyoncé asked her father. This was a tradition in their family. They always prayed over the newborn. They would express their gratitude, ask for a quick adjustment, and a healthy baby.

Richard shook his head. "No Beyoncé. I'm passing the torch to you. This is your child, and I could not be prouder of you two young adults. I love you both. This is your first prayer with my grandson, so you better make it a good one." Richard nodded at Beyoncé. He would have hugged her, but he didn't want to spread any germs from the waiting room.

Beyoncé wiped away a tear that had fallen down her face. "Don't worry dad. I had a great teacher. Everyone please bow your heads." Beyoncé said with pride, and Kelly looked like a proud mama as she squeezed her wife's hand. She knew how much this meant to her. Beyoncé squeezed it back before bowing her own head and starting her prayer.

Donna smiled down at her daughter, wiping the tears that had rolled down her face. This was every mother's dream to see their daughter make it through something so traumatic yet beautiful and live. Every night she got down on her knees resting her elbows on the bed. She clasped her hands together, and brought her forehead down to her thumbs. She prayed for her daughter's well being. She prayed for Sir and for Beyoncé. Most importantly she prayed for an easy recovery and transition into their new normal.

If things went well, the road for recovery wouldn't be long. If things went bad, then that would cause a lot of problems. Donna loves her daughter and she would never want to see her suffer. Her daughter meant everything to her. Now she gets to watch Kelly experience a love like no other. A mother's love is one thing that could never be replaced. It is to be cherished because one day it will be gone. Donna bent down and kissed Kelly's hair. "Hi sweetie."

"Hey mom!" Kelly wiped the tears from her face. She was super emotional right now and seeing her mom cry made her cry.

"How are you feeling, sweetie?" Donna sat down at the edge of Kelly's bed.

"I'm feeling fine. Thanks for asking mama." Kelly grinned.

"Are you sure?" Donna leaned forward. "Now is not the time to be a strong, independent, black woman. You know maternal mortality is real, and us black women are three times more likely to die."

"I know mama. I know. You've told me a thousand times. I read some of the horror stories. I promise that I will call the doctor at the first sign of trouble. And if they don't listen, I am going to unleash Beyoncé on their ass." Kelly giggled.

Donna laughed. "Oh yeah. She is the perfect advocate for you."

"I know, so you don't have to worry about me, mama. Everything is going to be okay." Kelly held out her hand and her mother took it. "Remember we prayed for this."

"Kelendria, I am your mother. I am always going to worry about you." Donna squeezed her daughter's hand. "I just want you to live to see all the amazing things your children will do."

"I know. I love you, mama."

"I love you too, sweetie. I brought you something." Donna pulled out a red quilt from her purse. It had little, yellow rubber duckies on it. "I know it isn't much, but-"
