Chapter XIII

'Let's go guys... you can do that!' (Y/n) thought as she observed Team Z as they were going over the strategies for this match. (Y/n) looked especially proud of Yoichi.
'He looks so much more mature and determined.' The girl thought as she wrote something down.
'I still think Team Z made a mistake to not put Gagamaru as a goalkeeper. I hope Iemon will be able to keep up with the Wanima twins.' (Y/n) thought, looking over at Team W, where the twins were.
'Wanima Keisuke, ranked 232 and Wanima Junichi, ranked 233... both are very tactical and are good in combination play. The day their team defeated Team X was quite a shocker... Baro was so scary too!' The girl shuddered and continued her job, not noticing that one of the twins noticed her looking.

"Say, does the manager have the hots for one of us?" Keisuke, the one with a seemingly permanent grin wondered as he swung his arm around his brother's shoulders. Junichi, the one with a frown, looked at the (e/c)-colored girl and shrugged his shoulders.
"I don't know. Even if she did, it's none of my concernes."
"Lame bro~ I might approach her after we win this game." Keisuke chuckled.
"Whatever."

"KICK OFF!" The alarm blared and (Y/n) covered her ears a little, as the twins started kicking the ball towards Team Z's goal.
'Go! Team Z!'
"Let's go, big brother! When do you want to pass? And what kind? Come on!" Keisuke yelled as the older twin turned to look at him with his usual glare. By now (Y/n) was used to that strategy, but Junichi's smile still terrified her a little.
"You want me to pass it to you like this?!" Keisuke asked again as the older nodded his head and passed past Igaguri.

'You can do it guys! Chigiri is faster than they are.' (Y/n) thought. Yoichi, who was standing next to Chigiri, must have said something that triggered laughters out of the twins, but (Y/n) couldn't hear what exactly he said. What she did hear was the answer Keisuke gave him, which had left her a little horrified.
"You mean Chigiri, the glass prodigy?! Hey, bro! He is still playing football! He probably can't get over the glory of his past days!" Junichi said nothing and just grinned at the redhead, who stood frozen in place.
"What big bro said here Chigiri is... that your career as an athlete is over!"

'What the hell is their issue?! Chigiri, please don't listen to them... Team Z and I believe in you.' (Y/n) thought to herself as she kept on staring at the boy and Yoichi stole the ball from the older twin and passed it to his. Eventually, Kuon scored a goal for Team Z, giving them the lead. Chigiri, feeling (Y/n)'s eyes on him, looked over at her as she gave him a small smile.
'What can I do... it's like my legs are frozen. I want to play, but I also don't.' He gulped as the team went to congratulate Kuon on his score.

There was a short time out, where the twins used the time to scold their defense and Team Z went over their tactics. (Y/n) felt the same pit of anxiety rise as she looked between the two teams.
'This is so weird... Maybe it's not their day, but how were they so careless? The twins are usually very observant.'
Meanwhile, Chigiri looked over at the girl as a Team W member walked up to her for an extra water bottle.
"(Y/n)..." The redhead whispered sadly, not noticing the suspicious look from Yoichi.

By the time the game resumed the twins had the ball again, passing it between their teammates as Kunigami ran up to them. Stealing the ball, Kunigami kicked it to Bachira and he grinned at the Junichi.
"My turn!" He yelled and kicked it towards Kuon, who kicked it into the goal, making the new score 2-0.
'This... this smells fishy.' (Y/n) thought.

'There is no way this is the same Team W that devoured their previous opponents. What is going on?' (Y/n) looked suspiciously at the twins, who were heated over the goal.
'Or are they?'

By the time the first half was finished,the score was 3-0 for Team Z. Junichi did a foul near the end, giving Team Z the right to a free kick. Bachira had kicked the ball to Kuon, who had scored the 3rd point.
'Yeah... that whole interaction earlier wasn't a coincidence. They have to be working together. The twins aren't this careless and Kuon by all means isn't talented enough to make 3 goals in a row. Is he the next coming of Messi or something?' (Y/n) snorted as she watched the teams leave for their locker rooms.
