3rd Person POV

No one noticed. No one noticed Harry's suddenly fake smiles. No one except the one who had caused it. The boy barely ate enough. He spent most of his time studying and avoided interacting with anyone. Hermione and Ron were to busy snogging each other or fighting about Crookshanks and Scabbers to acknowledge Harry's strange feelings.
It wasn't until potions class in seventh year that Hermione Granger finally noticed her best friend's odd behavior. It was particularly oblivious at the time, because of how he treated Snape. When the professor asked him a question Harry would answer without any protest, he didn't argue when Serverus took away points, and he even started doing extra credit. The bushy-haired girl was growing concerned, how could she not have realized it sooner? As soon as class ended, Hermione hurriedly shoved her belongings into her bag and shuffled out of he classroom along with the other students. The girl spotted Harry a little farther ahead of her and quickly jogged to keep up with him. She grabbed his arm and pulled him to the side. The boy gave her a questioning look.
"Harry, are you alright?" She saw a flash of sadness in his eyes, but it went as quick as it had come. He gave her a small smile.
"I'm fine, Mione'." Hermione didn't believe him, not even for a second. "I have to get to Transfiguration, talk later kay'?" Harry didn't wait for a response as he began to walk away, leaving the Girl to her thoughts.
As Hermione walked to her next class, which didn't start for another five minutes, she spotted Ron. Quickly, the brunette made her way over to the tall Gryffindor.
"Oh! Hey Mione'-" Ron was cut off abruptly as Hermione dragged him away into a more secluded area. "What's going on-" He was cut off once more,
"Have you noticed anything odd about Harry?" He blinked at the girl.
"What?" He asked stupidly. Hermione glared and slapped him upside the head. "Ow! What was that for?" The boy rubbed his head.
"Harry. He's acting weird." Ron gave her a confused look. "Honestly, Ronald-" She paused upon realizing that she hadn't noticed either. "Sorry... I'm just worried about him."
"Uh... It's okay?" She gave him a small smile. "What do you mean he's acting weird?" He asked.
"Earlier Sna-... professor Snape took points away from Harry for making a disruption in class," Ron blinked at her again.
"How is that weird? Snape hates Gryffindors and he absolutely despises Harry." Hermione glared at him.
"You didn't let me finish! Harry didn't protest at all, he didn't argue in the slightest, and he apologized." She thought back to the moment. "Even Snape was surprised..." The red haired boy in front of her furrowed his brow and thought for a moment.
"At the train station..." Hermione looked at him.
"What?"
"Before anyone got on the trains I saw Harry go up to Malfoy like he was happy to see him, but Malfoy said something and Harry's face kinda dropped." The girl looked shocked.
"You didn't think to tell me!?" She whisper-yelled, sounding quite angry.
"It was Malfoy! He's always a git to Harry I thought it was normal!" Ron immediately yelled in his defense. Hermione furrowed her brow and walked away. "Where are you going?" She heard the boy call from behind her.
"To class." She glanced back and saw Ron freeze then run towards what she imagined to be his next lesson.

As lunch came rolling around, Hermione walked through the corridors making her way to the Great Hall. She was planning on meeting up with Ron and Harry so they might be able to address Harry's behavior.
"Granger!" As she heard someone whisper-yell her name and immediately stopped, pulling out her wand. "Calm down, Granger I just want to talk." The bushy-haired girl groaned as she recognized the voice of Pansy Parkinson.
"What do you want?" The Slytherin looked at her like she was an idiot.
"I just said what I wanted, to talk." Hermione rolled her eyes and her brows knitted together.
"Quit wasting my time, Parkinson." The Gryffindor shoved her wand back in her robes, storming away.
"It's about Potter." She stopped in her tracks at once, turning to look at the other girl. "Haven't you noticed him acting weird..?" Pansy spoke, slowly stepping towards her.
"What's it to you? You hate Harry." She saw as the Slytherin took a deep breath to keep herself from getting angry.
"Listen, Draco has been acting strange as well. Him and Potter are the only ones acting different" Hermione paused. She was right, Malfoy had been acting odd too, he didn't bother them as much and even if he did there was more venom and anger than usual.
"Why do you think they're related?" The Slytherin glared.
"Granger, how can you be so dense?" Hermione gritted her teeth. "Draco and Potter hate each other, is it really so unlikely that they're acting weird because of each other?" As much as the Gryffindor didn't want to admit it, Parkinson was right again.
"Fine. I'm sorry for lashing out." A wave of shocked flashed over Pansy's face. "I'm worried about Harry, he isn't eating enough and he seems... I'm not quite sure how to describe it.
"Draco is acting the same way." Both girls paused for a moment then looked at each other. "Do you think something happened between them over summer?" Hermione thought back to the months they had for summer break. Harry had seemed quite happy, well as far as she could tell. She obviously couldn't see him, but they wrote letters to each other. Sometimes Harry would mention a person, someone who he may or may not be in a relationship with. The girl suddenly froze. She quickly walked towards the Slytherin.
"Over the summer, did Malfoy mention anything about a secret lover?" She whispered urgently. Pansy gave her a confused look.
"Yes, but what does that have to do with anything?" It was as if Hermione was putting together a puzzle and she had just added the last piece.
"Parkinson..." The Slytherin looked at her.
"What?" They stared at each other for a long moment. It felt like minutes passed, maybe they had, before Pansy gasped. "You-... You don't think..." Hermione looked at the ground and nodded.
