CHAPTER NINETY EIGHT !
☆
Estella had woken up just at sunrise. she had passed out due to losing blood and complete exhaustion for being awake for two entire days. she was up, though, and walking beside connie, who walked next to daryl. dog was a little in front, and henry and lydia were just behind the three. they'd been walking for a while, and estella wasn't entirely sure where they were even walking to.
she didn't bother to ask, though. to be honest, she was too tired to say a word. she was enjoying the silence. she still had daryl's rag pressed to her face, and thankfully daryl brought her crossbow and her gun with him to find her because he knew she'd need it. she had them back on her back where they belonged, and her gun back in her belt, along with her knife.
they stopped near a building that looked like a bunch of apartment blocks, and connie stepped in front of them. she pointed at each of them, before pointing at herself and then the top of the building.
"take the high ground? yeah." daryl said, as connie began to write.
'choke point.'
"good idea. come on." he said, beginning to walk.
"i don't understand." henry said, making estella groan and throw her head back in annoyance.
"do you ever understand anything?" she asked him. she still had not forgiven him for making such a shitty plan.
"they use walkers to protect themselves, right? so we go up, some place the walkers can't go. we separate the living from the dead." daryl said, henry slowly nodded his head, and daryl turned to lydia. "they travel in a herd but there's only like five or six in the middle, right?"
"yeah, but if we go up there we're trapped. alpha's not gonna send an army 'cause she doesn't have to. she'll send beta." lydia said.
"i'm sick of runnin'. this beta, he their best?" daryl asked.
"he's the one that alpha had beat me up to try and make me break after she cut my face." estella said, "the guy is strong as hell. he was lugging henry and i around at the same time like we weighed a pound each."
"yeah, that's extremely true." henry said, looking back at daryl.
"good. we'll kill him first. come on." daryl said, continuing to walk. estella let out a small sigh, walking in front with dog.
they walked inside the apartment building, and it was completely dark near the door. there was no windows for the light to seep in through and light the place up until they walked up the stairs. they went up more flights, until they reached the level they wanted.
estella walked to the window, looking out of it. it was insane how different the view of the world was compared to years ago. all the buildings were completely run down and broken, the streets were a complete mess. it was just ugly. a world that used to be beautiful was completely destroyed.
estella felt a tap on her shoulder, making her quickly turn around. connie was stood there, a smile on her face as she held up a first aid kit she had found in the stash underneath the floorboard. stella smiled at her as she opened it up, grabbing some disinfectant wipes and some stitches, ready to stitch her up whilst daryl was checking the stairwells.
