Movie

I ran back to the shack, deciding I was facing this head on. As soon as I went inside, a Dipper ran up to me.

"Where were you?" He asked, looking rather flustered. "Candy and Grenda have called about twenty times. They want to go to a movie with you...Dream Boy High?" Is she hurt?

"I was getting some fresh air." I lied. "And tell them I'll come. What time?"

"Uh, five?" He shrugged. "That's what they said twenty times. It's four thirty now, you'd better her going if you're going." Why do I have to tell them?

"Okay, uh..." Yeah, why did he have to tell them? "I'll call them."

He said nothing, but was definitely relieved. Plus, he was thinking relieved thoughts. Wow, that was nice of her. I don't want to hear another "fangirl scream" in my life.

I walked to the phone and dialed up Candy's number. She picked up first ring.

"Hello?"

I decided phones were great and the world's best invention because you can't hear people thinking over them. Which is a great thing.

"Hey, it's Mabel!"

"Oh, hello. Are you coming to the movie?"

"Uh, duh! Dream Boy High is our thing! I wouldn't miss it for anything!"

"That is very good. Your brother does not react well to our fangirl screams we have prepared."

My throat tightened. I already knew that. But I replied anyway. "C-cool! Can I...hear one, I guess?"

"Yes!" Candy replied happily, then screeched into the phone in such a high pitch plastic was breaking somewhere.

"Woah-ho! Neat!" I grinned. "What time?"

"Five. But can we meet now? Grenda is very anxious to see you."

"Sure!" I replied. "Sounds good!"

I hung up the phone and sighed. Now to get to the theatre.

I ended up taking the golf cart there, where Candy and Grenda were waiting outside. They both waved enthusiastically to me as I steeled myself for whatever the heck was going on in their crazy heads.

I walked up to them. "Hey girls! Ready for the movie?"

"You bet!" Grenda roared. I bought Mabel a surprise platinum edition of the movie!

I winced. Consider that surprise ruined.

"Are you okay, Mabel?" Candy asked. I hope she is not sick and does not infect us with death.

And that was the day I learned Candy's mind is a scary place.

"I'm good!" I lied, putting on a fake smile. "Let's go!"

We bought our tickets and walked in and went straight to the room
where they show the movies. How should I know what it was called? We'd smuggled in gummy koalas, so no need to buy snacks. And as soon as we took our seats on the front row I realized I had totally forgotten something.

We were in a crowded movie theatre.

Right before the movie is when you talk to your friend next to you...and then think about whether the movie will be good or not.

So basically, I got this:

"Yeah, that was so fun! We should do it again." This movie is supposed to be so good! "I'm hungry." I kinda need the bathroom. "Can you get us a popcorn? There's time!" That guy is really ugly!

Imagine for a moment that someone has an audio file on a computer. They plug an amp into that computer, then place the amp right by your ear. They set the amp to the highest possible volume. Then they press play. That audio file was all the stupid thoughts and voices in a crowded theatre. Plugged up to an amp next to my ear. To sum it up, it was terrible.

"I-I'm sorry...I need to go." I left without warning, hopping out of my seat and running outside and them running some more. I managed to get into the forest before I hit someone.

I fell backwards, landing on my back. Sitting up, I dusted myself off. Then I stood up and got a good look at who I'd hit.

He was a guy who looked about my age with abnormally bright blonde hair and a black hoodie and blue jeans on. He seemed familiar.

"Oh my, Shooting Star, I'm so sorry..." He rushed.

Oh.

"Wait...Bill?" I gawked at him.

"Yeah, say that a bit louder, will you?" He muttered. "I'm hiding from the cops, okay? I lose a lot of my power like this, but it makes it way harder for me to be located."

"Uh...okay." I shrugged. "By the way, you look like a kid."

Bill shot me a glare. "I'm supposed to be thirteen. Not a kid."

"Eh, whatever." I grinned. "I'll give it to ya."

He looked both ways, then back at me. "Listen, I hate this, but I also don't want to die. So I don't have a choice."

"Okay." I shrugged again. Plus, I could tell he was truly angry. I didn't want to make it worse. Then I got an idea. "Hey, do you need a place to stay for the night? I could smuggle you into the shack. We have an extra room." I smiled wistfully at the memory of when we'd found that room. "Ah, good times."

"Yes, I found your carpet shenanigans hilarious." Bill smirked at my surprised face. "Don't think I haven't watched you two since you got here."

"Don't worry. I don't." I replied. "Now let's smuggle you in."

~

Well then.
Uh...HUMAN BILL!!!! *cheers*
Poor Mabel...
What's she gonna tell her friends, though?
