Carrying boxes full of paint was quite a bit tiring for Marie,
And since it was her job, she couldn't refuse.
A festival was going on near the place and they had just announced that the fireworks were ready to go off. Marie didn't want to miss it and so she hurriedly placed the boxes and took off her uniform to go check it out.
When she arrived at the place, she noticed someone has just dropped their keys and she couldn't help but pick it up. Marie immediately thought that the only person she could ask was the one in front of her.
She lightly tapped the person's shoulder and exclaimed, "Excuse me, Sir. Are these yours?"
As the guy who she called turned around to look at her, and the moment their eyes met, the fireworks went off.
None of them spoke, they just looked at each other as the fireworks bursted into different colours. It felt like they were the only people around and nobody else.
Marie's eyes stared into a pair of vivid grey eyes, looking right at her. Something inside her spoke, telling her that he might be the one she was always expecting to meet. A lot went through her mind at that very second.
Right after the fireworks ended, Marie was the first one to break the eye contact and shook her head. She immediately questioned the guy again if those were his keys and the guy just nodded in reply.
Marie hesitated and gave him his keys and turned around to walk away. Little did she know that the guy was still stuck and looking at her walking away, still breathless.
He smirked and thought, "What a weird day." as he walked away as well after he heard his name being called out.
