"If you want to get to Tu'la, you head east, not west. You go through the Eastern Sea, avoiding the cursed part of it, and enter the dock south of Mira Playa. South, of Mira Playa, do you hear me? The north dock will get you beheaded. Oh, and ask for a man named Tom, he'll help get us through safely. But don't mention we need help, and don't look him in the eye. Wait! Where are you going?!" I yelled, as the now terrified captain of our ship ran away. "Hey! Don't think that I'm done with you yet!" I yelled at and shook my fist at the captain. I chuckled to myself, tourists. I hadn't even been here two days and I was already scaring the townspeople, a new record! I walked towards the beginning of the dock, satisfied with terrorizing the crew. And that was when I saw Aphmau. Things weren't exactly going well with her, while I did intend to scare her into submission, I didn't think it would scare her as much as it did. I had seen her with her kid, Alina, she was obviously hiding her, not well, but hey, at least she's trying, it's not like she knew I was a top-notch assassin. She walked down the dock with purpose, her guard, Garroth, trailing behind her. Then the air grew tense, so thick you could cut it with a knife. Their posture stiffened, and Garroth drew closer to her side. As if he could protect her, I silently said to myself. I nodded in acknowledgement, with her also nodding at me. Garroth showed no emotion. I continued walking. While I glanced back at them as I was walking, Garroth caught my eye. I stopped walking to stare at him, he stopped walking to stare at me. Then as suddenly as the moment initiated, it ended. I looked back ahead of me, and walked off, leaving him standing where he was. There was something oddly familiar about him, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Aphmau as well, was familiar. Shaking my head to get rid of the thought, I walked towards my ship, I needed to dispose of the letter.
~•~
I had finally gotten to my ship, I climbed up the ladder and onto the deck, and walked to the Captain's Quarters. I opened my bedside table and opened the drawer. I grabbed the second letter Zane had sent to me (I had already destroyed the last one), holding carefully it in my hand. I kept looking at the signature at the bottom of it, Zane Ro'meave. This was the man I was going to marry. To spend my life with, (or at least the rest of his, I'll probably outlive him.) Even though it was for money, power, I was still essentially chained to him for eternity. The thought terrified me. Originally I hadn't put much thought into the deal, or at least not in the way I'm spiraling now. At least he was handsome, although the last name Ro'meave was a deal breaker. I would have everything I ever wanted, ever needed, I would have money, power, fame, and most importantly, revenge. I don't know where these thoughts were coming from, and more importantly why I was thinking them. Once again, I shook my head to get rid of these ridiculous thoughts. I headed onto the front-part of the deck, at the tip of the boat. I leaned on the railing, staring out at the horizon. Slowly, I ripped pieces off of the letter, dropping them into the water. I watched the paper fade into the watery abyss, the ink vanishing from the paper. Invisible Ink. I should have known, Zane's smart, he always has been. I turned away from the ocean, and headed back to the steering wheel, and sailed towards Phoenix Drop.
~•~
I had arrived at Phoenix Drop, and I could see guards looking around, probably for me. After all, a prisoner's disappearance was sure to cause a panic. Yet they remained stoic and still, as to not alert the citizens and tourists and cause a scandal. Smart. I never knew that Aphmau could be capable of making good government decisions. She always seemed soft. Soft rulers often are just figureheads As soon as I pulled into the dock, guards started shouting and running towards me. And as I disembarked from the long voyage here, Aphmau and Garroth came running towards me. "Aw, did you miss me?" I said teasingly.
"Where were you?!" Aphmau angrily yelled.
"Well I decided to pick up my ship. What? Did you think I had swam over here?"
"You know we could kill you for running off like that right?"
"You can't kill me, you need me. Plus, I thought that I wouldn't like to sail into Tu'lan waters, with a Ru'an ship, especially since you're currently at war. That is unless you want to go on a suicide mission, of course."
"Would it even house all of our crew?"
"It used to have a crew of it's own a while back. I'm sure it's perfectly capable of housing your pathetic crew," I said sassily, "Oh, you can leave that idiot captain behind, we won't need him where we're going." Having successfully won the argument, I walked off towards the town, ready to prepare for our journey.

Rope, weapons, food, water, clothes, first-aid kit... Is there anything I'm missing? Oh right, ink and paper for letters. I grabbed a pen and some paper from the shelf in one of the general stores in Phoenix Drop, heading to the cash register, I went to go pay for my items. Luckily, I had saved up quite a bit for the journey back to Tu'la. Carrying my stuff back to the ship, I started thinking, again, ugh. Aphmau had played right into my
hands, she was coming to Tu'la willingly. Sooo much easier than kidnapping her and Garroth. Oh and don't forget Alina too. Although it might be harder to get them to Zane with all those guards around. Who am I kidding, it'll be really easy, they're all idiots! A small smile grew in my face. This is going to be so easy! I arrived back at my ship , it felt weird having someone else's stuff on my ship. That hasn't happened since my parents.... I plopped down my stuff on my desk in my room. Sorting through the stuff I put the necessities in my brown, leather satchel. You know, snacks, water, jacket, band-aids, murdering knife... The essentials. I looked outside my window onto the deck, and I saw Garroth directing some of the crew members on where to put some crates. Everytime I looked at him, he was always wearing armor. Wouldn't that get heavy after a while, or just really suffocating, especially in this midday summer sun. I never wear armor. I know it's kind of irresponsible for a person whose job is killing people, but it's just so bulky. Like, how would you manage to be discreet in that behemoth?! In the middle of my very important tangent, we caught eyes. My joking mood disappeared, and tension filled the air. And before I knew what I was doing, I was out the door and walking towards him. What are you doing, me?
"Sooo... Hi, it's been a while." I said awkwardly.
"Hi."
"So where is everything going?"
"The food is going in the kitchen below deck, the clothes and first-aid are going in an empty staff room, and the weapons are going in an empty supply closet also below deck."
"Wow, considering you just got here, you really know the place, not better than me, but still really well for someone who's only been here once."
"I guess so."
"How do manage to be so serious all the time?"
"What?"
"I mean, how do you always seem so..."
"So what?"
"So... Stoic, so straight-faced"
"Aren't we in a good mood today"
"Hey!"
"Anyways, why is it any of your business?"
"I'm just curious about my captors."
"Fine then, I'm so serious all the time because you're a person I don't especially know, and you have to be stoic to be respected".
"Not necessarily, respect comes from wealth, power, and dangerousness, from them knowing you could end them, not from being so serious all the time."
"How did this evolve into a conversation about power?"
"I don't know, maybe you just enjoy my company"
"Sure I do, sure."
"You just don't what to admit it" I said, a smirk growing on my face.
"I do not!"
"Sure you don't, anyways, I have to get back to sorting." I said as I walked off, still smirking.
