It was approximately three and a half days when Jullian and I talked again.
It wasn't really a 'talk', however. I was only forced to interact with him because I caught him kidnapping my two year old brother.
My mother wasn't home and my father was overseas, so I was the only one left to take care of my brother. When he finished watching all the episodes of Blue's Clues he approached me and said, "We go play, Vic?" in which I knew he actually meant take me to the amusement park because I want to ride that up and down thingy I love so much. And since I was such an awesome brother I did.
When Vincent started demanding sweets an hour in, I went to a stand to buy cotton candy and looked away for justa minute or two but when I returned, he was gone.
I practically searched every crook and corner of that place and asked anyone I passed, but no one saw him and I felt physically sick and so fucking scared and after thirty minutes went by and I still couldn't find him, I decided to go to the nearest police station to report a missing child.
That's when I saw them.
Jullian was carrying my brother in his arms, telling him something I couldn't quite place since I was standing a couple of meters away. I ran towards them, utterly relieved that I found him and terrified that it was a goddamn vampire that did. I felt like I wanted to vomit from the surge of emotions that coursed through me.
"Jullian, give him to me." I said, trying to keep my voice from shaking too much.
Jullian startled at my voice. When he recognized me in the dark, he slowly shook his head, holding my brother closer to his chest. "He's mine."
I stared at him, taken aback from his words. "What the hell do you mean he's yours?" I said, aghast. "If he's anyone's property, it would be mine!"
"I found him first." said Jullian, his voice hard.
"No, you took him."
"He was alone."
"He wasn't!"
Jullian flinched. Vincent was sleeping on his shoulder. "Please don't shout, you'll wake him up."
I gritted my teeth and went to grab my brother from him but he glared at me and his eyes flashed red. "Don't touch him, Victor."
"He's not going to be your next dinner, freak." I said. "Not on my watch."
I could have sworn hurt flashed in his eyes, but it quickly disappeared. "He's not dinner." he said defensively. "He's my pet! I'll take care of him and feed him and I'll love him!"
"He's not your fucking pet." I retorted, but despite my tough guy act I was legitimately scared because I knew Jullian wasn't human and he could hurt my brother in ways I didn't want to imagine.
