The following Monday, during study hall Bucky found Hollis.
"Hey we need to talk.." he said
"Okay.." she said
"We can't do this anymore. I have to break this off.." he said
"But, I- why?" She said as tears welled
"Don't do that Hollis don't cry. I'm doing this cause I'm trouble and you are good. I need you to stay away and be safe." He said
She looked down, "It's not like I was your girlfriend anyways.." she said lowly
"Hollis please understand that I'm doing this to keep you out of harm's way." He said as he lifted her chin.
She sniffled back tears, "yeah.." she said and walked away.
The next day, Hollis pulled into the student parking lot. She saw that Bucky was back with his old girlfriend Melody. She stepped out of her car pulled up hood and kept her head down. Bucky saw her and looked down.
During lunch Hollis, just kept her head down and barely touched her food or engaged in conversation. Bucky saw it all, Hollis had shut down he skipped out on study hall. When he got to his dad's he lit up a joint and reminded himself he did the right thing.
