Gerard rushed to get ready the following morning. He didn't know why he was so intent on getting dolled up, it was just Ray that he was going to see. What if Ray took it as a date? Not that Gerard would mind, but he didn't want to look so... Casual. He pulled on his black leggings, black skirt, and striped shirt, tying his hair back into a loose bun. He stared at himself in the mirror and smiled, feeling pretty good about himself. He felt comfortable. He felt pretty.
He did his eyeliner and smudged it a bit, then moved onto his mascara, humming gently to a song in his head. He then put on a little bit of lip gloss, and giggled. He was giddy, he felt so pretty, something he hadn't felt in a long time. He made his way to his bed and pulled on his ankle boots, glancing at his phone and smoothing his skirt. 12:53.
What if Ray was weirded out by his outfit choice? What if he misinterpreted the situation? He started to worry, before getting snapped out of his thoughts by his phone ringing. He answered it quickly, "Hello?"
"Hey!" It was Ray's voice on the other end of the line. Gerard's heart melted and all his worries washed away. "Hey, Ray." Gerard smiled, though Ray couldn't see it. "I'm on my way, I have a few things for you that I think you'd like."
"Oh, you didn't have to bring me anything-"
"Don't worry about it, Gee."
Gee. It had been a while since anyone had called him that. Normally, he would've shut down, it reminded him too much of his brother, but hearing it from Ray was music to his ears. Oh, how he missed those days..
He hummed, "Okay. How long until you get here?" He asked, smoothing out his skirt and looking at himself in the mirror again. "I'm about 10 minutes away. See you then." Ray sounded so.. Cheerful and happy. It warmed Gerard's heart.
"Okay, see ya!" He hung up and made his way out of his room, closing the door behind him. He had time to put up the various canvases that littered the house, so he started on that.
Ray was nervous as fuck. He didn't know why, but he was. It had been two years since he had went to Gerard's house. Two years since Mikey's passing. He wondered if it was still the same it had been, or if Gerard had changed it to avoid the memories of his brother.
As he neared the house, he fidgeted with the collar of his button down, wondering if maybe he should've gone more casual. It felt like he was on a first date, trying to give a good impression. He sighed. This wasn't a date, was it? Not that he would've minded, but he would've at least liked to know before hand. He had a tendency of over-doing things sometimes, and casual meet-ups were one of them.
He pulled into Gerard's driveway a few minutes later, looking at the house nervously as he got out. The outside didn't change much, save for the winterized red roses that were planted by the porch. He made his way over to the rose bush, sniffing them gently. The smell calmed his nerves a bit, making him relax his body. This wasn't going to be so bad, he told himself as he went back to his car to grab the box of comic books he had brought for the man.
He closed the car door and made sure to lock it before starting up the steps of the porch, taking in a deep breath. He raised his hand to knock, but before he could, Gerard opened the door. Ray couldn't help but stare at the beauty the male beheld. The way the shirt matched the skirt, the leggings, the way his hair was pulled back and the way his make-up was done... Ray felt himself blushing, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear and smiling shyly. "Hey, Gee."
Gerard smiled wide, "Hey Ray!" He stepped aside and let the man in. "I uh.. Brought you some comics.." Ray held up the box, and Gerard grinned, "Awesome!" He closed the door behind Ray and led him to the living room.
The first thing that Ray noticed was that the house was exactly how he last saw it. Same jade green walls, various paintings and pictures on the walls, the same dark oak furniture. But the couch was a sickly green colour, which Ray thought was odd, but it didn't matter.
Gerard sat on the couch, crossing his ankles and smiling as Ray set the box down. "Thank you so much-" He said softly, digging through the box. "These are like, vintage! Holy shit-" He looked up at the curly haired male with wide, hazel eyes. "Where the hell did you get these?" Ray chuckled and rubbed his neck sheepishly, "Well... They were Nate's. He wanted to give them to you, since you have a thing for comics." Gerard set the box aside, standing up and hugging the other tightly, "Thank you so much!" He felt like his heart was going to burst. He felt special.
Ray laughed and hugged Gerard's waist gently, "No problem, Gee. Now, what do you wanna do?" Gerard pulled away and shrugged, "I honestly don't know, just needed your company." Ray grinned, "There's a new horror movie playing at the Clairidge theatre, wanna go catch a showing before it's too late?" Gerard's hazel eyes lit up, "Sure! I'd love to!"
Ray grinned, "Well then, pull on your coat and scarf, and we can head that way." Gerard giggled excitedly, grabbing his long pea coat and striped scarf and pulling them on. Ray beamed at him, finding the male's reaction adorable.
Gerard grabbed his keys and his wallet, smiling wide at Ray as he made his way to the door. "Okay, let's go!"
