~ Owen's POV ~

"Owen look the results are in! Let's see if we made the team!" Brent was pulling me towards the locker room door.

"I mean of course we did but let's still see!"

The excitement in his eyes was sweet, we really did love football. And it was a perfect distraction from all his mother drama.

Between him getting calls and texts from all hours of day and night from her and the fear of seeing her in public, he needs this.

I do too, and my life's been going decent.

Surrounding the list was a bunch of dudes hoping to be on the team. Including Elliott who, judging by the tiniest smile on his face, he got on the team.

Brent pushed his way the bodies all while pulling me with him.

He scanned the list and started cheering.

"We did it! We did it!" He pulled me in a bro hug and patted my back.

He was so high energy at such a early hour that I just couldn't match it.

I was happy though, football is a passion of mine that I think I'm pretty good at. Even if I don't love running.

Funny, I know. A running back doesn't like running.

He then ran over to Elliott and gave him a high five. "Nice job dude!"

Then, like the fucking Flash, ran over to my sister and our friends and scooped her up in one motion. "Your dating the new Alder Alligator quarterback!"

My sister smiled and kissed him as I joined them. Charlotte and Penelope congratulated us, Penny was significantly less enthusiastic.

"Owen got running back!" Brent said.

Carrie, still acting weird with me, punched my arm playfully.

"Nice job, big bro."

I nodded.

She looked past me to Elliott, who was waving at her. "You on the team?" She shouted.

He gave her the thumbs up.

"Wow this is so great!" Charlotte said.

"What is?"

We all turned to see Kyle, ginger hair a hot mess but clothes always on point. Over the shoulder bag tight against his chest.

"Brent, Owen and Elliott all got on the football team."

Kyle smirked. "Mmm I've never been with a jock before but there's a first time for everything."

"It's 7 in the morning and your still flirting." I said.

He shrugged. "You like it."

"I'm genuinely curious to see if you could go a whole day- no a whole hour without flirting."

He put a hand on his heart. "I'd rather die."
