This is just a quickly little fluffy thought I had that I thought was cute!
Sometime, the big lights and busy streets of inkopolis was just too much for you.
You sat quietly at one of the Café's of the huge city. Honestly, you just wanted to be alone. Here you sat inside the Café, a book in your hand as you flipped the page, wondering how a Café could be this cold. Subconsciously swaying your head to the quiet jazz in the back of the place, it went perfectly with the slight drizzle of rain outside. A smile danced on your lips as you flipped another page. The book was about a nice romance blossoming between two old friends, the setting in the book was so comforting, you imagined you were there yourself. You got so lost in the book, you didn't notice the orange haired male step into the Café, closing his umbrella and order his drink. He hadn't seen you either, until he turned just enough to spot you from the corner of his eye. He cocked an eyebrow, slowly walking up behind you. Not wanting to scare you off the high chair you sat in, he simply leaned to the side a bit, his eyes dancing on the page.
You slid your finger slightly on the page corner before starting to flip the worn out page, only to have it stopped by a cold hand on your arm. You jumped, turning your head to the side to notice, your friend, Army, leaning over your shoulder slightly while pulling your arm back a bit, his eyes scanning the page quickly before he looked to you. "What? I don't read very fast. You have a problem with it?" He questioned, almost seemingly flustered by the expression you had on your face. You smiled, looking back to your book and moving it slightly so you both could see it as he grabbed ahold of another chair and sliding it beside you. Army's eyes trained from the chair, to you before he sighed, moving slightly and sitting on the chair beside you, his arms relaxing on the table, holding his hands together.
He said nothing, and neither did you. You both didn't have to. You simply moved the book in front of you both, leaning close to him as you smiled. Army looked to you, his cheeks toning to a bright red before pulling a arm out and wrapping it around you. He pulled you slightly closer to him, your shoulders touching before he pulled his hand away and back to where it was, his usual frown still there. You looked to him for a moment longer before you looked back to your book, smiling. Now, Army was the one to turn the page. He was right however, he did read slow despite his fast writing for his manual. But a part of you didn't think it was his reading, rather his want to just be near you for longer. If you thought that, you would have been right.
That's how your Saturday afternoon went. You both stayed there for a while, Army getting up twice just to order something else for you both so the workers didn't kick you both out for staying there for so long without getting anything. When you had finally finished up, closing the book since you both had finished it, you looked up to Army as he looked back. He still said nothing, and you didn't say anything either. You thought he'd just leave, but when you both stood, he offered open his arms, looking to the side with his usual frown. "Thanks I guess. I'll call you when I get the continuation to that book." He stated. 'Oh? Did he plan on you two reading the second book together?' Did he like the book that much, or was it just another excuse. Either way, you couldn't care less. You walked to him, accepting the hug as your arms wrapped around his figure gently. Army felt at ease, as did you. He rested his head down a bit, resting it against your own head as he stayed silent for a minute.
Finally, you two let go, both stepping back a small amount as Army looked to the side. He wasn't used to being this calm or affectionate around others, so this was still new. His guard let down like this, it was unusual. He knew you didn't mind, nor care however. You were you after all. This whole thing wouldn't haven't gone down the way it did if you had a issue. You bid your sweetest goodbye to Army as he waved, exiting the Café. And then there was just you again, alone like before. Except there was a lingering warmth to your body now. As you slid back into your seat, book in hand, you smiled. You weren't nearly as cold as you had once been.
