The rest of the weekend flew by, and before Athy knew it, Monday had arrived. She woke up early, wondering if Lucas would remember their encounter at the park, and if he would even acknowledge her in the halls at that.

As she made her way to school, Athy caught a glimpse of her father walking on the opposite side of the street. She called out to him, but he didn't seem to hear her. She watched as he walked away, feeling a sense of disappointment.

"If I was mom, he definitely would have noticed me."

Shaking off her negative thoughts, Athy entered the school gates and made her way to her locker. As she opened it, she heard a familiar voice behind her.

"Hey,"

She turned around to see Lucas standing there, a small smile on his face.

"Lucas! What's up?" Athy inquired, noticing the strange expression on his face.

Lucas leaned against the locker next to hers. "I saw you walking to school this morning. I didn't know you lived in my neighborhood."

Athy smiled, feeling a bit relieved that he remembered their encounter. "Yeah, I live a few streets down from here."

They stood there for a moment, unsure of what to say. Athy's mind was panicking, trying to come up with something to say to him.

"Say, do you want to grab lunch together today?" Lucas suddenly asked, interrupting her thoughts.

Athy's heart skipped a beat at the unexpected invitation. "Uh, sure. That sounds great."

Lucas smiled. "Cool. Meet me in the cafeteria at noon?"

Athy nodded. As Lucas walked away, she couldn't help but wonder what this lunch date would lead to.

From a distance, a white-haired boy watched, feeling intensely jealous.
