Fabrics always loved the sea it was a bummer she lived so far from shore, and yet she was ready to drop. She wanted so badly to just be one big ball of joy floating around with no one but the wind to bother her, if only she had something other than this heavy lump in her chest.
"Hey!" A voice pierced through her sadness, the same raspy one she couldn't help but grin at. It took everything within her not to dive right into that soft giggle-like laugh.
"Why the long face?" he asked as she slowly started to realize she was daydreaming about the ocean again. And the sad look on her face? That's just how she felt...
She wasn't sure when he had noticed her sadness, but when the smile vanished from his lips she knew he did. Her friends had always been able to tell what mood she was in by their faces alone.
"It's nothing." She answered simply. "Just a bad day I guess." She lied.
He studied her for a moment, letting his eyes roam over her features until she turned away slightly embarrassed. "You know I'm still here to listen, you never know what stupid things might come out of your mouth..." He muttered out, she couldnt help but giggle at his remarks "Thanks, i guess!" she replied.
She looked up and smiled awkwardly as he sat down next to her and held her hand. His hair was in its usual messy bun as he kept getting caught by stray leaves blowing off in the wind. Fabrics squeezed her eyes shut for a second and let out a sigh "i guess i just miss home?" She finally admitted softly. The grip she held onto tightened.
His expression grew concerned "Really? You don't like Scotland?"
"Well not really! I mean its ok, but i miss my parents..." she said dismissively before breaking down in sobs.
Mokey's mouth fell open and he quickly stood up "Hey hey, stop! Please stop crying." He tried to calm her. He wrapped his arms around her shoulder comfortingly as she shook from her tears, her fingers squeezing tightly into his jacket.
"Mmmphhh..." Her sniffles continued.
"Fab, please calm down, okay? What is wrong?" He demanded while gently trying to pry her fingers from his jacket.
"I was talking to an old friend from home last night..." she sniffled. "Tried to make plans..." She began to sob harder.
The boy leaned closer and pressed his lips to her temple "Shh. You can talk to me about anything, remember I am always here for you, okay?"
He then put his head on top of hers and she inhaled deeply as his arms slowly pulled back up behind her neck. They sat there quietly, her face still buried into his chest, until she calmed down completely. He sat up and kissed her cheek as he wiped away the tears falling from her eyes.
"That's why I didn't wanna do the whole trip down to Mablethorpe," He murmured "Because I thought I'd get you all upset when we left... it makes me feel guilty." He rubbed her back.
"No... no... It's fine. Its fine. Thank you for taking care of me," she stated simply.
He smiled warmly "Are you gonna help me with hanging the clothes up then?"
"Sure!" She cheered as she stood up.
