GEMMA POV

I don't know what the fuck that Matthew guy thinks of himself.

'your office is shit, my office is better' like who even says that? Are you in like second grade?

The stupid asshole of a guy, honestly why did is even like him? Why did I even agree to go on that dinner with him? and came home thinking he was a nice guy. what utter bullshit. honestly speaking, the only reason I even agreed to come and sit in his office was to get him to shut up. he did not create Davis Industries from scratch, his father did. silver spoon, spoilt guys. does he even know how much effort, hard work, and late nights it took me to make my business from nothing to something? so be recognized by people? ugh! I just reached home and accidentally crashed into the garbage bin. could this day get any worse? I angrily get out of my car and somewhat toss the bin back in place. I storm into the house and go up the stairs and collapse onto my bed, I stare up at the ceiling convincing myself that I should not let that random guy I work with get inside my head. my brain continues to send me mixed signals, is he nice? he's not, but what if he is?

"aahhhh" I scream out loud just wishing the voices in my head would shut up.  lying on my back, I put my palms on my temples and forcefully shut my eyes.

I open my eyes due to the harsh sunlight attacking my eyes. I yawn, and I stretch in the weirdest ways. honestly, the girls who post videos saying "I woke up like this" are straight-up lying, no one wakes up so organized and with lip balm on their face. I sit up straight on my bed, half my body covered with the comforter and my messy hair all over my face which I force out of my face. i just open my phone, I know it's not healthy to check your notifications as soon as you wake up, but that's the habit I have ever since I got the phone. I swipe all the usual, Snapchat and Instagram notifications and-

"oh shit" I stretch out the last part of the word. 10 messages, 3 missed calls, and a thousand emails, from Matthew and Sofia asking me to come to the office and why I am late. I check the time. 8:36, oh god I am dead. then I rushed into the bathroom, the mascara was all over my face as if I had stayed up the whole night crying, my wavy hair was all ruffled, and I was a total mess! I cleaned up the best I could and rushed to my car. half the way towards my office I realized that I had to work in Matthew's office from now on. this day officially could not get worse. I pulled in my car and looked around, the campus was beautiful. it was definitely modern, but also on the other hand was very naturey. I went to the A wing, and in the elevator on the 15th floor. I immediately saw Sofia as if she was waiting for me there.

"Mr. Davis wants you in his office" she whispered while pointing in the direction of his cabin.

I start walking while taking in the new surroundings. even though Matthew's cabin was of glass, it was one of those types, from which you could not see anything on the inside. I click the little buzzer outside his door, and a few moments later he opens the door looking sharp like always. his hair was slicked back, but today he was just in a simple black button-down, with some formal pants. he looked great in them anyways.

"good morning ms. woods I have been waiting for you" he says while looking at his watch dramatically. he steps back allowing me enough space to step in.

he sits on his big leather chair behind his mahogany desk and I sit in front of him. this is intimidating for no reason. I look around his office it was plain and simple but elegant. I realized he did not personalize his office one bit, there were no photos, nothing small like even a flower pot or something that can have a sentimental meaning. i could feel the lion stare at me while I looked around his den.

"I hope it's not a regular habit of yours coming late to work, I will not be accepting that henceforth" he stated while his voice sounding extra deep.

" what will you do if I am late, fire me?" I said with a smirk on my face

"No I will do much worse" he was not the least bit intimidated by my statement, it made me wonder if he ever moved a muscle on his face and then my brain immediately started showing pictures of him smiling. I quickly snap back into reality.

"Like what?"

"Well Gemma, what's the use of threats if I just spoil them, there is a thing called suspense in life" his lips formed the tiniest of smiles, before moving on to their original place.

"Where is my desk?" I ask just to change the topic because I didn't have any comebacks

" right over there" he points behind me and I notice and cabin exactly the same as Matthew's but they were mirror images of each other.

"thank you," I said while standing up

" wait, Gemma. you forgot this" he holds up my phone, and I just stretch out my hand to retrieve it. I walk straight out of that office and into the new one. I sat on the chair only to realize I could see Matthew working and doing his job, though I could not hear him. My stupid self really liked the idea of just watching him all day but then I realized he could also see me. stupid glass. both of our cabins did not share the same glass, but they were close enough that I could see everything.

the remaining day went comparatively fast just emerged in work and also as I got used to my new surroundings. I stole a few glances of Matthew throughout the day, as he worked on his laptop, he was mildly shouting at a guy, he generally does not lose his temper, definitely that guy must have messed up real bad. I thought I felt him staring at me too, but whenever I looked up he was just busy working. when I went home and just took a bath trying to process the day I had and how it was going to be a routine from tomorrow.
