DARK HUMAN: The Luna Aldridge Story (Series 1)

Chapter Sixteen

Luna

Getting in the passenger seat of Amelia's car, they drive to the mall with the music up loud. With them not saying anything to one another as they dance to the music, they pull into the parking lot moments later, and Luna's senses become heightened. Looking around the parking lot and not seeing anything out of the ordinary, they get out of the vehicle and walk into the mall. Luna sees people sneeze and cough in twos as they walk past them, while they look at them.

"Did you notice people are sneezing and coughing in twos when they walk past us? This isn't the first time that I've seen this! This happened at work a few weeks ago," Luna whispers as she looks at Amelia.

As Amelia looks at the people, she looks at Luna, and says, "People sneeze and cough all the time."

"Yeah, but not like this. They were in sync," Luna says, as a man walks past them, and coughs twice, while he walks into the store. Scrunching her face, she says, "There it is again? Didn't you see that? That was weird!"

"Okay, Luna! Like I said people sneeze and cough in twos. You're reading into things."

"Never mind! You wouldn't understand! Before I forget, I went to The Raven and saw Laura the other day," Luna says.

"You did? How did it go? What did she have to say?" Amelia asks in an exciting voice as she picks up a shirt. Putting it up to her chest, she looks at Luna and asks, "What do you think of the shirt?"

"I like the shirt. You should buy it."

"I'm not sure if I want to buy this," she says as she puts the shirt in front of her face.

"The visit went well with Laura. She told me that I should write and wear purple. That's why I'm wearing this," Luna says, as she picks up a shirt, looks at it, and puts it back on the rack.

"Why did she tell you to wear purple?" Amelia asks as she puts the shirt back on the rack.

"Because purple is supposed to heighten my psychic senses. I don't feel any different though," she says as she picks up another shirt. As she looks it over, she puts it back on the rack, and says, "She mentioned that a dark charmer is going to be turning into a friend."

"Really! Who do you think the dark charmer is?" Amelia asks as she shuffles through the clothing rack.

"I'm pretty sure that Geo's the dark charmer. He also messaged me last week."

"He did? Why do you think that he's the dark charmer?"

"Let's say gut instinct. I also ran into him when I was leaving The Raven."

"Did you message him back?" Amelia asks, with a chuckle.

"No, I'll run into him again. It's no big deal. We're always running into each other," she says, as she walks away from Amelia and walks around the store. As she picks up another shirt, Geo appears in her psychic space and dissipates moments later. Sensing that he posted on social media, she pulls her phone from her back pocket and goes to his page. Seeing a new picture of him doing the same thing, she says, "Amelia! You're not going to believe this sh@t. Geo posted a picture on the media of him matching me. He's doing the same thing I'm doing."

"What?" Amelia asks as she walks up to her. Handing her the cell phone, she looks at the picture, laughs, and says, "So! It's just a coincidence."

"Okay. Coincidence huh? Just like the sneezing and coughing in two's," Luna sarcastically says, as she takes her cell phone back, and closes the media. As she puts it in her back pocket, she says, "This is no coincidence. You know how he's able to match me. It's because he's psychic. He can sense me. That's how."

"Why would he do that?" Amelia says as she watches another couple walk past them sneezing and coughing in twos. As they stare at the couple, she says, "I don't see anything in here that I like. Let's go to another store."

"See there it is again. The sneezing and coughing in twos. And I'm not sure why he would do that?" Luna says as she puts the shirt back on the rack. As she looks around the store, she says, "Yeah! I don't see anything either."

As they walk out of the store, and walk around the mall, they go in and out of the stores. With Amelia and Luna not seeing anything that interests them, Luna says, "Is there anything else you want to look at or need to buy?"

"No! I'm good. I'm ready to go home if you are?" Amelia asks as they stand in the food court. Walking out of the mall moments later, they get into the car, and Isla appears in her psychic space. Watching her appear and disappear, she senses that she posted on social media. Ignoring her post, Luna looks at Amelia and gives her a disgusting look.

"What is it?" Amelia asks as Luna looks at Amelia.

"It's nothing," Luna says as she puts on her seatbelt.

Amelia pulls into Luna's driveway, puts the vehicle in park, and Luna gets out of the vehicle. Quietly walking into the house, she takes her shoes off, and up the stairs, as she hears Amelia pull out of the driveway. Seeing Kyle taking a nap on the couch, she stands at the end and watches him stir.

"Did you buy anything?" he asks as he opens his eyes and rolls over to his side.

"No. I didn't see anything interesting. I'm tired. I'm going to take a nap in the other room," she says as she walks into the bedroom.

Closing the door, she sits on the bed and reaches for the journal under her pillow. She opens it up, leans back on the headboard, and begins to write about her recent dream and what's been going on as she hears Kyle fall asleep.
