I decided to call my parents, but first, I had to take a shower. I put my bag on the bed and made my way to the bathroom.

The water was surprisingly warm, which isn't really usual. It felt like heaven. The hot water was drilling down my body, and I could feel how the blood in my body was getting warmer.

I was deeply in my thoughts when the phone rang, which caused me to jump and switch back to reality. I got out of the shower, but by that time, the phone stopped ringing.

I brushed it off and went back to the bedroom. I picked some random, comfy clothes and made some food. I sat down in front of the TV and tried to find the remote. After I found it I switched it on.

It wasn't working. "Damn it." I said under my breath. "Old microwave." I slapped it 3 times and on the third, it switched on. "Finally."

I was just chilling when the phone rang again. "Hello?" I picked it up. "Hi Jan." It was Ratchel. She told me her parents are coming over tonight, so she can't make it.

"It's okay, don't worry about it. Maybe next time." I said with a smile.

"I'm sorry again! Thank you for understanding!" She said and after that we hung up.

Oh shit, my parents. I forgot. I picked up the phone again and dialed the number.

"Hello?" Someone said on the other side. "Hi! It's me, Jan!" I immediately knew who it was. My mom.

"Jan, Hi! How have you been? What's new? How's work?" She kept asking questions.

"I'm good. Work's fine. I made new friends! It's nice to have someone here." I replied.

"That's great honey. I'm really happy for you!" She knew I was not a sociable person and had problems with that.

"We are so worried. Our girl alone in that big strange country. Your father has read almost all magazines and watched documentaries, so he could know where you are right now!" She said.

Oh god, help me. "I'm fine, mom! You don't have to be worried!" I tried to calm her down.

"And how are you, Dad... and everyone?" I asked.

"We're good. Nothing new, but your sister has a big announcement! I'm sure she'll tell you by herself, I won't take that moment from you two." She chuckled.

We stayed silent after that. I wondered what's the announcement. Is it a new house? Moving? Maybe vacation? Going to university, since she didn't after high school? Or maybe pregnancy? She's older than me and man I'm getting old.

"Anyways, your father is already sleeping so I should go too." She chuckled. I forgot we have different time zones.

"Okay, goodnight mom. I love you." I smiled.

"I love you too, baby. Night!" She hung up after.

I love my mom, we don't talk much, but still, she's my mom. She gave me what she could and I'm thankful for that, even when our relationship wasn't during the best last year. On the other hand, I'm more 'my father's daughter'. Everyone knows that I'm his copy. Well, not in everything but still.

I lay down on the couch and my eyes started getting heavy. All of a sudden, the TV switched off and so did the lights, which caused my eyes wide open. I was without electricity.

"NO, NOT AGAIN." I shouted out of anger. I got up and opened the door, got out of my apartment, and made my way to the owner's door. I knocked aggressively. Calm down Jan. Calm down.

"What?" The owner opened the door.

"I'm out of electricity. Something happened." I said with a cool tone.

"Not my problem, check the controller." He said with his cigarette in his mouth and slammed the door.

I wanted to scream. New remainder. Get a new apartment as soon as you can. I don't care that I can't afford that. I refuse to live like an animal, locked in a cage. After my dad's copy skills, I fixed it... somehow. Jan doesn't need a man at all!

I got back to my apartment and hopped on the couch again. There was some shitty romantic movie going on. Uh boring. So I just kept switching it before I gave up. I turned it off and I was just about to go to bed when the phone rang again.

'Man, I've had enough for today,' I said rolling my eyes. I walked to the phone really slowly, hoping it'd stop and I wouldn't have to talk with anyone, but that didn't happen and I'm grateful for that.

'Hello?' 'Hey Jan, how are you?' Oh lord. I knew exactly who it was.
