5 Years Later

Five years. Five whole years... that's how long Adelynn had spent preparing to be Prince Aegons wife and now the day was to come and she had never met him and it seemed even now as she stood in the throne room of Kings Landing she would never meet her soon to be husband.

"What do you mean there is an issue!?"

Jason yelled, his voice booming throughout the castle as the girl kept her gaze on the stone floor, she hated when they yelled.

"Prince Aegon refuses to marry her."

Worry filled her as her eyes settled on the hand who had taken his place on the Iron Throne as the king had been unwell the past several years.

"We made an agreement!"

It began to settle in her, she had failed her family, everything she had been doing the past several years of her life and she had failed. She was filled with deep guilt and fear.

"It is not like I have not tried Lord-"

Before Otto could finish his sentence the throne room doors opened, The queen held up her eldest who sluggishly followed her, his eyes red and sunken and she could smell the alcohol from the second he entered the room. She frowned her eyes looking one last time to the Hand who held his face in his hands.

"I apologize for our late appearance, there was an incident."

As her fiancé stood in front of her she couldn't help but notice how his lips seemed to be formed in a permanent frown and his eyes were not red from the alcohol but from his tears, his flushed cheeks burning bright. He should not be here, why did they bring him here?

"You call this an appearance he is not even-"

"The hour has grown late."

Her voice boomed throughout the room causing all to stare at her as she looked to the queen, a sweet smile coating her lips.

"If you do not mind, your grace, I shall' take the prince to his chambers with Ser Erryk, of course, and we shall discuss matters the morrow?"

Alicent's expression turned from one of irritation to one of pride.

"That seems like the best idea. Yes you may, Ser Erryk, when Aegon is put to bed accompany the lady to her chambers, please."

The knight nodded as she bowed to the Queen once more before looking to Aegon whose eyes stared into hers, some would find it rather intimating even in his state but she did not back down as she gently took his arm and lead him slowly out of the throne room and into the halls of the red keep, Ser Erryk following behind them. Their walk was silent even as she finally entered his chambers and set him on a chair before turning to the handmaiden already in the room.
