After losing Leonardo's trust for what seemed like the millionth time in the time they met, Kenji didn't know what to do.
Keeping secrets was something he was used to, although a secret that big would one day drive Kenji insane, yet that day didn't seem to happen anytime soon.
Leonardo gave Kenji a home.
Leonardo gave Kenji his trust.
But of course, an Asahi could never keep nor uphold anyone's trust.
Kenji didn't know what to do.
He was dead, both legally and internally.
There was nothing left for him and Kenji didn't know where to go, at all.
Kenji was banished from Leonardo and Mina's home which meant that he was no longer under protection of the De Luca mafia.
To put it bluntly, Kenji was nothing.
Figuratively and literally.
"So are you gonna pay or?" The cashier said waving her hands into Kenji's face.
Kenji sighed and placed a twenty onto the counter before going outside, "enjoying" the tasteless cookies that were trash compared to Mina's.
It was almost April yet the weather in New York was still quite cold, though it comforted Kenji greatly.
It reminded him of home.
Home in Japan, with Kaya, Kai, and Katie.
All Kenji wanted was to be home in his mother's arms, but alas it seemed too good to be true.
Kenji knew he'd get kicked out of Leonardo's and Mina's home one day, although didn't know it'd be that soon.
He knew keeping Kai a secret from Leonardo would damage their relationship, but Kenji did it to protect Kai.
After all, he did promise to be the older brother and protect Kai years ago.
Kenji didn't want Kai to suffer for his sins and ultimately kept it a secret.
He was going to tell Leonardo about Kai on the night before Leonardo left for Vegas, but it all went downhill.
Leonardo got extremely drunk at Marcello's party and left New York the moment he woke up to find the Diamond Of Versailles.
Now that Leonardo wasn't there, Kenji knew he could return to Kai, even though it'd be a great shock to them all.
But he was ready.
Kenji "borrowed" Leonardo's jet one last time and headed to Vegas.
He'd finally see Kai after all those years.
Walking into the Birmingham Apartments was quite nostalgic, though as Kenji knocked onto the door, 113.
When the door finally opened, Kenji felt the butterflies in his chest rise up as he saw Sora.
"Kenji?" Sora said tearfully.
Kenji happily nodded as tears pierced his eyes while Sora jumped onto him in shock.
"SORA! YOU LOOK SO DIFFERENT!" Kenji cried.
Sora shook her head and sobbed, confused as to why Kenji was right in front of her.
He was dead.
Right?
"W-what's h-happening? YOU'RE DEAD! Y-YOU'RE S-SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD!" Sora sobbed.
Kenji tensed as Sora pulled him into the small, stuffy apartment.
There were several clothes, baby toys, and suitcases littering the floor.
