Agony. Boredom. Were only some of the emotions flourishing in the Mikaelson household. The four siblings had waited three days for Marcel to wake up, but nothing changed. If anything, he had gotten worse. In a death like coma, he had not moved since they brought him back and put him in a spare bed. The wound in his back had ceased to heal and instead had begun to ooze with black blood. Even giving him blood seemed to make no difference to his condition. With no idea what was happening or anyway to help him Freya had called one of her associates from the high witch council who specialised in dark magic to have a look at him. Shortly, afterwards there was a knock at the door and Holly came in. Well aware of what Freya had done to her friend Serena, she was reluctant at first but as a doctor her duty was to her patient so she temporarily put her grievances aside going upstairs to see her patient. The Mikaelsons following her upstairs as she did. Going into the room she saw the unconscious body of Marcel on the bed with Klaus filling her in "We went to his house a few days ago and found him face down with a dagger in his back". This intrigued Holly as she enlisted in Klaus help to turn Marcels body over so she could see the wound on his back. As he did she was shocked by the black blood dribbling from his back from a gaping open wound "Where is the dagger now?". The siblings all looked guiltily at one another before Kol stepped forward "we lost it" leaving Holly speechless. Ignoring their incompetence, she took a closer look at the wound. She knew something was stopping him from healing but it wasn't clear what it was. She then noticed that some of his skin had attempted to heal scabbing over just like human skin would. She noticed that the wound itself was incredibly swollen, almost like a blood clot, she was beginning to suspect the cause of his condition "have you been giving him blood?" Holly questioned. "Of course, he's a vampire. We've been giving him a few bags every three hours or so" Rebecca told her only confirming her suspicions even further "He's clotting". The siblings looked at each other confused "He's what?". Holly sighed "his body hasn't absorbed the blood you've been giving him. it's created blood clots instead. I think, but I'm not sure how, the reason he isn't waking up is because he's been cured". The room fell deathly silent, the siblings deep in thought "cured?" Klaus questioned "So he's not a vampire anymore?". Holly looked back at Marcel's lifeless body "He is for the moment. I think he is slowly reverting back to his human self, that's why he isn't healing or waking up" Then the siblings began to panic as they remembered one crucial detail- he had no heart. "SHIT! He doesn't have a heart!" Klaus shouted, the mood turning sour. The siblings realising that if Marcel had really been cured of his vampirism that he would die as soon as he turned back into a human. Rebecca started to tear up trying to convince herself that Holly was wrong "but a vampire cure doesn't exist, does it? Does it Nicklaus?" receiving no answer from her brother. Deep down he had the suspicion that the doctor was correct "I don't know. But it makes sense. I hate to admit it but he is as powerful as us and if anything else had happened to him he would be standing here with us. Someone has made a vampire cure and has purposely gone after Marcel, our only equal, to threaten our family". Kol wasn't so convinced "not everything is an attack on our family Nik" receiving menacing glares from his siblings, Kol in response rolling his eyes. Rebecca glanced at Marcels lifeless body before turning to Holly "How long does he have?" she asked the sadness echoing in her voice. Holly sighed not being able to give a definitive answer "honestly, I don't know". Upon hearing this, tears began to cascade down Rebecca's face as the long buried romantic feelings she had for Marcel started to resurface. Freya going over to her little sister giving her a huge hug. Although not as blatant as there sister, the boys were upset by this news. Marcel had been a good friend and occasional enemy to them and for him to die at the hand of a stranger seemed like an insult.

Feeling that she could do no more Holly made her leave, feeling downtrodden by the whole experience as Kol saw her out the door. Kol not wanting to go back upstairs sat in an arm chair in the lounge listening to echoing clock chimes from the mantle piece. This lasted for about a minute before he was bored out of his mind. But between Rebecca's crying and Klaus' aimless passing around the room he refused to go back upstairs, instead skimming through their collection of books placed in a beautiful oak bookcase. One in particular caught his eye, compared to it's neighbours the book wasn't any different, but it was what was on the book that interested him. Whilst, the books next to it were covered in layers upon layers of dust, this particular book only had a thin layer of dust and wasn't properly fastened to the back of the bookcase, it was poking out. He squeezed the book out of its place and rubbed the dust of it, the title wasn't of any particular interest but the book itself seemed familiar. Curiosity taking over he noticed that something was prohibiting the book from shutting completely and opened the book to that page, not ready for the streak of confusion that awaited. In the book in front of him was a scan picture of a baby. Having no clue what any of it meant except that baby was 18 weeks at the time of the scan he called the others from upstairs. Running down the stair's thinking Kol was in trouble "What is it Kol!" Klaus shouted as he came down the stairs with a dagger in hand. "Come look at this" Kol commanded as his sibling all gathered around him looking at the ultrasound picture. "It's one of those baby things" Klaus told him which made Kol role his eyes at him "I know that. What is it doing concealed in a book in your bookcase?!" gesturing to the empty space on the bookcase. Following his direction they noticed the empty space and looked back at the picture "Is it one of Hayley's?" Freya asked not sure if she ever got an ultrasound when she was pregnant with Hope. But, Rebecca shut her down noticing the due date on the scan picture was only 6 years ago "It can't be Hope, the baby was due just under 6 years ago. Look at the date" pointing to the due date in the corner if the picture. This left them stunned and full of questions, as they passed the picture around. "Maybe it was put there by mistake when you got the book?" Freya suggested but Klaus got the book of the table and turned to the front page 'My dear friend Elijah. Reggie Kray' causing Freya to fall silent. "Yep. They met in the mid 50's, they got on quite well apparently. Elijah kept it and got it restored. It's been in the bookcase for years. I was so envious when I found out, the best I got was bloody Sigmund Freud" Klaus admitted but Kol didn't care, he knew that this ultrasound picture meant something, the question was what. "Can we please focused!" he shouted as Klaus sat in the armchair with the book wide open "whatever you say". This seemed to trigger something within Kol. He remembered that six years ago Elijah was sitting exactly where Klaus was, reading the same book. Except he had called Elijah out for pretending to read it, not seeing him turning the page even once "I know who had that book last, it was Elijah! I caught him not reading the book properly and then he put it back in the bookcase. He must have had the scan picture on him!". The four of them were lost in thought as they tried to think of a valid explanation on why Elijah would have had a ultrasound picture in his procession but was coming up empty. "You must be mistaken Kol. Why would Elijah have a scan picture?" Rebecca sniffled still upset for their earlier predicament. None of this made any sense and they knew it. Finding this mystery baby hunt rather irksome especially with one of his eldest friends as deaths door, Klaus wrote it off declaring "It was probably a baby from the Pack, you know Elijah spent a lot of time with them before he disappeared" with a certain distain in his voice. But, Kol wasn't convinced feeling that this mystery baby held a bigger part in the puzzle then they realised "But why would Elijah go out of his way to hide an ultrasound picture if it was just a wolf from the pack? I think this picture may be a clue to find-""ENOUGH KOL!" Klaus screamed grabbing Kol by the neck pinning him to the wall his eyes glowing yellow as Freya and Rebecca watched on helplessly. "Marcel is dying and all you are worried about is a stupid picture! A picture thats nothing but a constant reminder that he is gone and may never come back. It means nothing to me." the topic shifting from Marcel to Elijah as Klaus let his troubles of his chest. He then let go of Kol's neck freeing him from his grasp "I've got to go!" as he darted off into the distance. The girls ran over to Kol, checking if he was okay "I'm fine". Once Rebecca was satisfied with his answer she grabbed her coat "I better go after him to make sure he doesn't do anything too stupid" she huffed. "I'll come to" Freya told her, Rebecca throwing her coat at her with it hitting her in the face "Thank you" she muffled from under the coat as she pulled it off her face. After Freya's coat was on properly the sisters went in pursuit of Klaus leaving Kol alone in the house. With him and just a blissful silence as company he stared at the ultrasound picture knowing it was no mistake, it meant something, something with Elijah's disappearance. But he was unsure how it all connected, ironically the ultrasound photograph wasn't the full picture. However, he was determined to find the truth, and more crucially to find Elijah. He knew he was missing something big and he was going to do whatever it took to find out what so their family could be whole once more. He needed to somehow find the mystery baby.
