The Broken Promise

Chapter 5: I will be happy

A year had passed, and Emily moved on with his life. She has forgotten the past, but the pain in her heart is still there. She was happy to be with her parents. One day she thought of going to the park she always went to. Every time she went there, she remembered the painful memories, but there were happy memories of Mr. Pittman. She still wonders if Mr. Pittman's life is going well now. When she got to the park, she saw him sitting on the swing, so she rubbed her eyes. She thought that maybe she was having a bad day, but she couldn't believe that Mr. Pittman was sitting in the park.
She approached him and said, "Sir, I-I mean, Mr. Pittman, what are you doing here?" Mr. Pittman looked at her and suddenly asked her something. “Emily, why does it seem like every time I come here, I felt weird? I seem to remember something happy thoughts here. I remembered you talking with me." Emily was surprised. Her heart is beating so fast with what she had heard, but she moved on from the past and ignored her feelings. She sat beside him and said, "Sir, look at the sky. Do you see many stars? When you see a star that suddenly glows red, it means your soulmate is close to you." Mr. Pittman was confused because he remembered someone had said that. His head suddenly hurt, and his surroundings became quiet. His vision became blurred until Emily called his name. He suddenly returned to his senses. He suddenly stood up and informed Emily that he was leaving because he was tired.
While sleeping, Mr. Pittman just dreamed about Emily. He woke up suddenly and immediately went to the kitchen to drink water. As he drank the water, he looked at his balcony and seemed to see him and Emily talking. His head hurt again so he immediately took his medicine. He returned to his bed and tried to sleep again.
The next day Mr. Pittman hurried to work. While he was in the car. He passed by a restaurant that looks familiar to him. He asked his driver to drop by the restaurant first, before going to work. He ordered the restaurant's best seller.
When the food was served, he seemed to remember something about this food when he saw it. Rice with chicken curry toppings. He started to taste it first, but he was amazed by its taste and remembered something he had tasted like this before. He saw the bell peppers. Suddenly, his tears started to flow. He continued to eat it happily. He slowly remembered everything about Emily.
On his way to the office, the new detective he hired called him. He hired a new one because the other detective was not reliable. After all, Camille is paying him to save herself from the crime she committed.
"Sir, we got information about your accident. We found out that it was intentional. Ms. Camille is the mastermind. She asked someone to do it while you were at a jewelry store. They used that time to destroy the brakes of your car. That's all the information we got. Don't worry sir, we have all the evidence regarding this. I will bring it to you as soon as possible. Thank you, sir, “ the detective said.
Mr. Pittman was disappointed and quickly went to his father. Camille is there too. "Father, I will show you something. Camille, great timing because you must see it too.” Mr. Pittman presented all the evidence pointing out Camille to be blamed. The father got angry and immediately had Camille arrested.
"Mr. Pittman, father, I did that because he didn't want to marry me. Rence, do you still remember what I told you that if you don't love me, I won't let you go to someone else? That's why I planned to kill you, “Camille said. Camille  was arrested and taken to a mental Hospital after series of psychological test.  
Mr. Pittman went to the car and screamed repeatedly. He cried and got angry with himself because he remembered everything, especially Emily. He remembered the necklace he had bought for her as his gift. He immediately drove to Emily's house. Emily opened the door and was surprised by him, who was covered in sweat and tears. Mr. Pittman hugged her and said, "I remembered everything, Emily. I remembered our promises. You are the only woman I've ever loved, and I will continue loving you. I remembered you, the things you cooked, and the things you taught me. Emily, please forgive me. Let's  give ourselves a chance to show our love to each other." Emily was stunned and said, “
"Sir, I'm sorry, but please give me more time to think. It's been a long day for both of us, and we need to rest. Let’s talk after a week." She closed the door and cried all night.
After one week, Mr. Pittman returned to Emily's house. He knocked on the door, but no one answered. A woman saw him and approached. “Sir, there is no one there. The former resident left just yesterday." Where is she now?" Mr. Pittman replied to the woman." I bet you didn't know she passed away. She was found lying on the floor by her parents. She was rushed to the hospital. As far as I know, she had stage 4 cancer."
Mr. Pittman fainted. He cannot believe what is happening. Then he asked the woman a favor to let him enter  Emily's apartment. The woman agreed because she knew that he was Emily's boyfriend. She gave him the key. Mr. Pittman enters and remembers everything he and Emily shared. He cried and
cried and went around every pillar of that room. He saw a folded paper on Emily’s desk . A letter for him stating,

"Dear Mr. Pittman, I know you will come back and look for me but I'm sorry because I'm gone. I wrote this letter on purpose, to convey my message to you. Sir, thank you very much for all your love. You made my life meaningful. I know you're sad and crying while reading this letter because I was not able to say goodbye to you and our last conversation was not good, but don't let that stop you from enjoying life. Sir, when I found out that you forgot about me, I was very hurt. But when you remembered me again and asked me to love you again, I felt happy. I refuse because I am dying, and I don't want you to suffer the way I felt when you have forgotten me.  If I agree to give you another chance, you will be even sadder. At this time, I  wanted you to start your new life and become happy.”
“I inserted a photo here. Do you still remember the girl you were looking for? That was me. I saw a picture of us together when we were young.”
“Sir, thank you,  and I love you so much. Sorry, I broke my promise of marrying you. Please don't let sadness cover your heart. Always remember what I told you. Don't think about the sad ones, but the happy ones, especially when I'm with you."
Mr. Pittman wept even more and said," Yes, I will do everything to be happy for you. I will never forget you, Emily. I love you forever."
