CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN !
☆
For the whisperer that they were keeping prisoner in the cell, they were trying the 'kill them with kindness route,' which estella had said was absolutely bizarre. in her opinion, they should've walked in there with a knife and started cutting at limbs until he had no choice but to tell them everything he knew. but of course, her idea was pushed under the rug. they weren't going in there to cut him.
they were going in there with a tray in carol's hand, filled with bread and jam after he got his wound tended to by dante and siddiq. estella thought it was stupid. if they were going down that route, they should've just signed the guy up for a five star stay at the ritz, top floor with a city view. the kindness route was gabe's choice, obviously. daryl and carol had the same opinion as estella.
"let's get started." carol said to the man, takimg the cover off the tray, revealing the food. she took a slice of bread and a knife. "so, what's it gonna be? honey, or jam? strawberry, or apple?"
"all of it?" the man asked.
"not a problem. we have plenty here. for lunch, i was thinking salted fish. i like to wrap them up in a fresh piece of lettuce, add a little—"
"what do you want?" he asked.
"well, right now, we're just gonna talk." carol said.
"pass." he said. estella sighed.
"okay. then, eat." carol shrugged, passing him the bread with all the toppings on, just like he asked for.
the man took the bread and looked at it in pure disbelief. estella actually felt bad when she saw him slightly sob over the food in front of him. when lydia got to alexandria, she ate worms. they didn't have the luxury out in the wild that they had in alexandria, and estella had been there. everyone in that cell had been there. estella, daryl, carol, and gabriel had all lived on the road.
he cried whilst he ate it, clearly not used to the sweet sensation in his mouth. estella's features softened as she watched him. he was taking bites like his life depended on it, like he hadn't eaten like a human needed in so many years. it was actually extremely sad.
"good?" carol asked him.
the man lifted his face away from the reminants of the bread, which was only a couple of crumbs in his hand and the slightest bit of crust. but then, he moved his head back, before spitting the chewed up food all over carol. estella's eyes widened.
