Cameron's POV
"Grace, sweetheart, put your shoes on." I say while packing an extra change of clothes."Okay," she says in response while getting off her spot on the couch.
"I'm gonna grab my purse then take your bags out to the car okay." I state.
"I'm ready to go mom." She says while grabbing her jacket and walking to the garage door.
"Sweetheart, Nanny is here, go give her a hug." I say while opening up the door.
I unlock the car and sit my belongings in the trunk. I walk over to my mom and give her the world's biggest hug, "I've missed you so much." I say truthfully.
"It's only been a few days, but I miss you too sweetheart." She says with a smile.
"So where do you all want to go eat?" I inquire.
"Anywhere with pancakes," Grace responds.
"I'm good with that," mom says.
"Okay, hop in the car." I say. "Waffle House sound good?"
"Yes," My mom and daughter say in sync with excitement.
"So, how was your work trip?" I ask while backing out of my driveway and clicking the button to close the garage door.
"It was fun," she says. "It was beautiful, but I don't know why they chose to go to Florida."
"I don't know, I'm just glad you had fun." We're in the city, waiting at a stoplight when all of a sudden a car pulls out of nowhere and there's a wreck in the middle of the intersection. I immediately park the car, "mom call 911." I say while getting out of my car and running to help. By the time I get to the car the passengers in the back row are getting out, I open the driver side door and help the young man slowly get out he's wobbling and almost falls. I catch him and hold him, "Can you walk on your own?" I question.
"No, I think my leg ..." he pauses and takes a breath to continue, "it might be broken." He grunts and pauses between words, I turn and ask the other passengers to help the people in the other car.
"Okay, I'm gonna have you sit on the ground." I say while moving him to the ground. Now I'm squatting beside him, "Is there anything else that hurts?" I ask, but soon feel Grace hug me from behind.
"Mommy, are you okay?" She asks in a worried tone.
"I'm fine sweetheart, I'm just trying to help." As I finish my sentence I here my mom walk behind me.
"The police are going to close the intersection down."
"Okay," I say taking in the information. I turn my attention back the the man I helped out of the car, "What's your name?" I ask.
"Xavier," He says in response, "Xavier Holden."
"Okay, Xavier the ambulance's are close and they are closing down the intersection. Your going to be okay, I promise."
"Thanks beautiful," he replied.
"I have a man right here," I yell to a slowly approaching ambulance. Once the ambulance is stopped lots of pare medics rush out and start to help Xavier.
"His name is Xavier Holden." I state, "He said his left leg feels broken, I know you can't do much now, but when you get to the hospital please run x-rays."
"Okay, are you family?" The medic asks.
"No, I was driving when it happened but he needs help. I haven't gotten to help the people in the other car, I'm worried about him." I respond. "If the police need me as a witness I'm happy to help. He just needs help."
"Thank you, Miss." The medic says, "Well get him taken care of."
"Would you know what hospital Xavier would be at?" I inquire.
"The NorthPoint Hospital."
"Thank you, I'm gonna talk to the police but I'll come buy to visit later." I say.
"Thanks sweetie for helping him, he needed it." The medic says, "people like you help others and that's very special."
"It's nothing big, just doing what I can." I say while waving back and wrapping my arms around my daughter. "Okay sweetheart, let's talk to the police then we can go get breakfast."
"Cameron, you just saved that man's life like it was nothing." I hear my mom say.
"Mom, I was just helping and doing what I can. You taught me that since I could walk." I say.
"I know but I never thought I would see this happen." She replies.
"Hi, my name is Cameron." I say while approaching a nearby police officer while still holding my daughter. "Im a witness, I saw the whole thing and ran out to help the people in the cars, if there is anything I can to to help you, I'm happy to do so."
"Thanks Ms.Cameron," he says processing everything. "Im officer Tate, it would be helpful if you told me everything on your account."
We spend maybe another thirty minutes talking about the situation before going and getting food.
"His he okay?" Grace asks while taking a massive bite of her pancake.
"Yes, he should be okay. I'm gonna visit him later tonight."
"Can I come," Grace inquires.
"Not today." I say while pausing to take a sip of my orange juice, "but maybe you can visit tomorrow. How does that sound?"
"Why can't I come today?"
"Grace you have a birthday party to go to," I explain.
"Okay, so I can see him tomorrow?"
"Yes," I reply with a smile.
Once we finished eating I wiped down Grace's face the was covered in syrup and headed to the bathroom for her to change her clothes.
