At the struck of midnight nothing had occur. The police officers left just before 11:30 and I had gathered myself to sleep. A light rain had begun but it didn't bother me at all. Now my glass of water was next to me and I was beginning to fall asleep when all of a sudden I hear footsteps going up and down the hallway. "Bloody hell" I whisper. But I soon try to forget the noise and sleep. "The darkness has chosen you for a reason." I wake up to find only an hour has passes by. The footsteps continue. The rain has grown a bit stronger. "Help me!" A lady screams from down stairs then a hackle covers her cries of help. It's a trick. I know it is. It has to be. Then I hear her. "Help John, he's got me! John, please help!" It's her. My wife's voice. She's dead I repeat to myself but her screams of terror just grow louder and stronger. "John!" I cannot take it anymore. I run out my door to find nothing but a candle in the living room lit. The sound of a laughter increases, and a piano starts to play increasing the sound louder and louder each step I take. "Who's there!" I yell but only a soft key of the piano continues. Suddenly all the screams of a woman yelling to stop and begging for mercy. "I have children to take care of please. I'll give you my money. I'll give you anything you please but don't kill me. I beg of you..." A deadly scream ends her sentence and I can feel her lifeless body drop to the floor. I hear the laughter again but this time it disappears out of thin air into oblivion. "Is anyone there?" I ask as I continue down the stairs. "Hello John" I turn to the piano and she's sitting there . Her back is facing me as her fingers sweep across the piano. "John please sit next to me." I look up to find that it's 4 o'clock. "That can't be." I whisper in astonishment. "It's very possible John. When you wake up you won't remember most of this but you'll remember most of it." Her sweet voice turns into a hideous laughter. I hear more screams of terror and the rain pouring down into a thunderstorm. Before I realize I awake in my bed drenched in sweat. "Oh my." The sun shines through my blinds and it's 10 in the morning. No sign of heavy rainfall. I head towards my door to see scratches on it. Some blood on my door. I look around to see everything is normal. I look down at my robe and again nothing. I look at the door once more and it's gone. Vanished from existence. Curiosity hits me as I go down stairs. No piano is there. No instrumental instruments. I walk to the kitchen to find Lily making breakfast. She smiles and hands me the paper. "Sad what happened last night." She sighs and continues cleaning. "What happened?" I ask, she just smiles and shakes her head. "A storm happened right on top of the grave last night then headed towards us but vanished out of no where." Her Scottish accent becomes sharp as she notices that I'm going to bring up her leaving early. A loud knock on the door saves her the lecture as she goes open the door. "John!" Oh damn it's Charles. He soon enters the kitchen placing the same newspaper I had been reading onto the counter. "Something astonishing did happened last night huh." I nod picking up my fork and eating my breakfast. "It's just rain." I suggest he'll drop the conversation but he insist on continuing. "Some of the fortune tellers say something of spirits but everyone at the bar just laughed at them. Do you think the dead got something do to with it?" He asks while taking out his NotePad and gestures me to follow him to the living room. "Dammit man can't I just eat in peace!" He chuckles and excuses his manors. By the end of our little daily routine chat he says goodbye while I worry if not telling him about my dream will haunt me or not. Lily leaves out the door ready to go home to her children. While I close any opening to my home I slither upstairs and get ready for bed when I hear the same steps out the corridor.
"Oh great." I sleep until I hear a faint whisper of my name. Then the door slowly opens. A hiss slowly kisses my ear and makes my body shiver. "Come downstairs with us John." It sounds like a hiss with a voice of an old woman. I open my eyes to see her next to me smiling a devilish smile. "Oh goodie you're awake" she crackles and I feel ropes tie around my ankles. "Take him away, boys" And they do. The door opens wide and the drag me across the floor, down the stairs, and to the kitchen. I pass out soon. When I awake I'm in my room without a pain on my body. No bruises or a single cut. "What the hell is going on?" I soon realize that everything is still and quiet. Not even the birds are chirping. I walk downstairs to find that Lily isn't here yet. Odd. I hear a knock at my door to find Sheriff Richard. "Hello John." I nod and ask what his interest is being at my house. "Lily was murdered last night. We found some of her blood near her home but we predict she couldn't get away. Sadly. Also some of our officers went missing. Any strange noises? Anything at all?" I shake my head. "Alright thank you. Get some sleep John . You don't look too good." I smile and say "How could I my son is taking over my business." We laugh and he walks off. I wait in the living room for Charles. He doesn't show up. I head up the stairs and sleep. I lock the door and every window I sleep peacefully that night with no interruptions.
