CHAPTER-6

VEDHIKA

Gosh! This week has been exhausting. Seven days in length with interviews. Some of them I had cracked, but the distance and long hours of work held me back. Some of them had a negligible distance to travel, however, the work hours were long, and I couldn't manage the cost of that since we generally had appointments for Paa's chemo sessions. Furthermore, the rest, where I needed to travel a ton, whichever way, I could never have gone with Dad to the hospital.

If I compare Oberoi Enterprises, it would have been affordable due to the office's proximity; however, what to do? I guess it was against my faith.

Yeah, it has been two weeks since that incident.

With my legs flying in the air and my face facing the door, I was lying on my stomach in my bed, when I came across an unread email while scrolling through my inbox, I opened it. It was a business account, and it stated:

'OBEROI ENTERPRISES: Enclosed Is Your Software Developer Offer Letter'

Huh! OBEROI ENTERPRISES!!!!!!! I screamed at the top of my lungs. I suddenly strayed from my recumbent position and sat straight trying to read carefully.

'Hi VEDHIKA,

It is my pleasure to offer you the position of Software Developer at OBEROI ENTERPRISES!'

Our team was extremely impressed by you during the interview process, and we are excited to have you join the company. We believe your skills and experience will make an excellent addition to the IT team.

Please review the following offer details carefully.'

My eyes nearly dropped to my knees. How is that possible, Mr. Oberoi told me that he would not appoint me unless I apologized to him.

"APOLOGIZE OR YOU CAN LEAVE", these words and his voice echoed in my head. Is this a fantasy? I rubbed my eyes and my sight slipped back into the Mail.

'Position- Software Developer

The position is a Full-time role as Software Developer at OBEROI ENTERPRISES. In this position, you will report to Senior Software Engineer in IT Department.

As a Full-Time employee, the position requires Hours. Your working hours will be 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM with an Hour break for lunch.

Your first day will be January 23, 2023(Monday).'

Wait! What? January 23rd? Tomorrow? I jumped out of my bed.

Technically, today. It was a quarter past midnight. Damn! What do I do? I'm not even sure if it's real or not.

'We look forward to welcoming you to the Oberoi Enterprises.

What happens if it isn't true? Let me verify and confirm their official email address. I browsed and it was the same from which I got a mail. What next? What am l expected to do?

'What do I do next? All you have to do is accept it. Several minutes prior you said it was the best proposition, and presently you're pondering what you want to do. You just have to acknowledge it. It contains everything you require.' My internal voice spoke.

I think you're right, after so much trouble, I received this offer, which I thought, slipped out of me. I won't screw it up again. But still, a question was unanswered in my spirit. Why did he endorse it? I mean how? He does seem to be keeping his end of the bargain! If he had to appoint me, then why did he say all that?
