It was a number from New York. Why the hell would they call you, a state away? But you had hope it involved your mother.

"Your Mother, Gale Weathers, has woken up, The doctor said. "Wait, really? You say. "Yes, the doctor responded." It's recommended by protocol that you come and visit, for someone living far away."

"Oh, okay, You respond. "I'll see what I can do." Ryan comes into view as soon as your phone call ended. "What was that? He asked.

"Uh, my mother woke up from her coma, You respond honestly. "it's recommended I go to New York." "Oh, do you want me to come with? He offers. "I'm sure you have to work, you say.

"I can take time off, he smiles. "Well, I shouldn't go by myself with the whole kidnapping thing, You laugh softly.

"Great."

He places his hand on yours, more so platonically and you knew that. So you give him a warm smile in return. Well, as platonic as you thought. You weren't too sure. And were a bit dumb when it came to seeing if someone liked you romantically.

But it was the right thing not to go alone. And so you were driving back to New York. you'd obviously go back to Pennsylvania after. Subtly dropping out of College and decided you'd start fresh.

After all, that was what you needed right? Sure College had been important. You'd start up again in Pennsylvania at the local university. So you had plans.

You were relieved you could have a fresh start. Somewhere where your dark past might not follow you. Where people didn't know your name. Actually, most did. The missing girl from New York.

"Are you sure this is the best idea for you? Ryan asks. "For someone who doesn't know me, yeah, you chuckle. You'd get to know each other. You knew that. It'd take time. You liked slowburn friendships.

"Well, we're getting closer, Ryan announced. You hum, your window open, letting in some fresh air. You smile. Life seemed to be going back to normal. though, you could never forget your friends who died.

You frown seeing you arrived in New York. but you wouldn't here for too long. But at least you were away from Ethan truthfully.

Ryan smiles. You could trust him. Though you couldn't. What if he was helping Ethan somehow? You shouldn't think that but after what you went through there were many possibilities in mind. You sigh, could you even face your mother? You needed to, you missed her very much.

You arrived at the hospital. "(Y/n) Riley, You say. After being given questions and responding you were able to visit your mom.

"Mom... you say, going in her room. Her eyes open but she looked tired. "You're okay, Gale smiled. "Mhm, I survived, You say. "Nobody else did though." She frowns. You nodded, not saying much. "you remember much, mom?"

Gale groaned. "Not much. Only Ghostface calling me. I'm sure the other memories will come back." "Maybe, You replied. she looks over to Ryan. "who is he?" "Friend of mine, You smile, looking over at Ryan, who smiles back.

"I see, Gale replies, weakly." I missed you. I was so worried you died." "Mom, I... was worried you died when you were attacked. do you remember me being there?" She shook her head. Probably from just waking up from her coma. You understood.

You placed your hand on hers, making her smile. "I'm just relieved you woke up, You said, not telling her you were kidnapped and Ryan helped you.

"I should get going my visitation time is almost up, You say."Hope you recover soon." Gale nods and said,"I love you, (Y/N)."

"Love you too, Mom."

You walked out with Ryan. "Was it worth the risk? He asks. "Yeah, you replied."definitely. I mean, I can't imagine being in a world without my mother. Even if the world claims it's better off without Gale Weathers."

"Hey, it's okay, Ryan assured you. "Should we go back now? Or stay longer?" A smirk formed on your face. "we could stay a little longer. I missed New York." "I've never been here before so why not? Ryan said.

you were surprised. even before moving, you had been in new york. "Really? I went here plenty of time growing up, You smile. He chuckled."I never really thought of coming here." "I see, You say, dragging him around New York City.

You knew you would be taking a huge risk but now that you knew Ryan hadn't been here before, you had to show him around.

Your Mother was a famous reporter and Writer. She'd travel all around about her Woodsboro books. When she was still married to your father she'd take both of you. After the divorce you just went with her.

It didn't matter as much because the trips were very fun. You didn't start going until you were ten but still. And seeing different places excited you. Traveling was always a passion of yours.

So moving here for College wasn't a difficult decision to make. And Gale moved to New York as well. A bit earlier than you but still. Your Father's death affected not just you but her as well. When nigh fell, you booked a hotel room. You had money.

You plopped down on your hotel bed, realizing you could relax now. Putting your past behind you. Still, you didn't plan on residing here any longer, most obvious place for Ethan to find you. and placing Ryan in danger wasn't something you wanted to do.

"You should get some sleep, He advised. You yawn. "I know, goodnight." Ryan smiles. "Goodnight." You somehow got some good sleep. When morning came, you quickly left. You couldn't take any chances.

Ethan was obsessed with you, that was an obvious fact. And he'd find you, no matter what. That was what scared you, so much so.
