Amelia McCall

We see the sign as we enter New Orleans. I smile at the view. People gathered around like a family. As if they knew each other, people smiling, laughing, and dancing. Derek parks his car and we get out to walk around.

We bump into a little girl. I knelt at her height. "Hey, are you lost" I ask softly. She gives me a small smile. "Yeah, it's my first time being back home." She said embarrassed, I looked up at Derek, and he nodded in response. "Why don't you tell me where you live and me and my friend can take you home." She nods smiling. I stand up and extend my arms for her to grab ahold of my hand.

We walk around looking for her home. "Are you sure this is where you live," I ask her, and she nods. We walk into the compound. A woman runs toward us hugging the little girl. "Hope, you had me so worried. I told you not to go alone." The woman said looking at the girl "I'm okay, these nice people helped me." She said smiling up at us "Thank you" The woman pulled me in for a hug.

"It's okay, I just helped a little girl find her way home. Us girls have to stick together right." I said, the lady looked at me worried. "Sorry, it's just a friend of mine who says the same thing." I nod in surprise. "What's your name." I look at Derek, asking if I could tell her, and he nods "Amelia" I smile at her "Thank you Amelia for helping my daughter." She said. Four men and two women walk towards us. "Is Hope okay?" a man asked as he examined the girl.

"She okay they helped her home." The lady said looking at the guy, He stood up. "Thank you," he says in a British accent. "It's okay." I smile at them "We should get going. I have some things to do" I say "Of course, thank you again" the lady says smiling at me.

We walk out of the compound. "I don't like them. Something fell off about them." Derek says walking beside me. "They seemed nice," I say confused

What can be off about them? There is just a family worried for the girl. I would have been worried as well if something like that happened to me.

We continued to walk, we came across a bar. "Are you sure I can go in there?" I Ask "Yes now let's go. I could use a drink." Derek says dragging me inside.

I found a book. I go through some of the pages. They seem to be in Latin. I poke Derek in his arm. "What?" He asked annoyed "It's a book of spells." He looks at me as if he is supposed to act surprised. "It's a book for witches meaning the person who owns the bar is a witch," I whispered not wanting people to hear me.

"Ok," Derek said not impressed, I rolled my eyes and continued to look through the book. A lady walks up to me. "Sorry, but you can't be looking at that." She says look at me. I look up at her "Sorry" I say closing the book, she grabs the book and puts it in her bag. "Do you believe in witches?" Derek looked at me as if I was crazy, and the lady chuckled "Do you" she said "Maybe" I said looking at her every move.

Once Derek was done with his drink and pay we left. "Are you crazy? You can't just ask things like that" he says upset "She a witch" I say, ignoring what he said. "How do you know that." Derek asked, "She put the book in her bag." I look at Derek and continue. "She had a bunch of things for a spell." Derek stops in his tracks "I knew that family felt off" I look confused at him. "They supernatural," Derek says trying to get me caught up. I let a surprise "Oh"

"What are we going to do" I ask Derek "Ask around," Derek says getting in the driver's seat.
