What is AI?

In nutshell, Artificial Intelligence (A.I. or AI) means computer programs that do tasks that need human intelligence.

Think of AI like a smart friend who can learn new things, make decisions, and solve problems on their own!

AI can help us do important things, like predict the weather, play games, write essays, and even detect diseases.

For example, do you know how your phone can predict what word you are going to type next? That's AI.

Or have you ever played a game where the computer opponent gets better the more you play? That's also AI.

Why is AI a mainstream topic NOW?

3 reasons for recent AI boom:

Better computers: In the last few years, computers became incredibly more powerful, making it easier to train AI.

Better data: With internet boom, there is more labeled data than ever before for AI to learn from, and be accurate and useful.

Better algorithms: Researchers have developed better algorithms (sets of rules), that make it possible to build AI that can label images, translate languages, and beat humans at chess.

Why bother about AI ?

AI is important because it helps us do things faster, better, and more efficiently than we could on our own.

For example, imagine having a robot that can help you clean your room, or a self-driving car that can take you to school safely without needing a driver!

AI is like having a smart helper who can think and learn like a human, which can make our lives easier and more fun!
