I was just starting seventh grade had a lot going on with homework and school life in general. At my school we always have a school trip at the very beginning of the year and in seventh grade it was to go to Mt. Saint Helens. We were camping(I hated it) and I got very lucky in the fact that the girl I liked and friend of mine were all in the same tent (before this I had become very good friends with the girl I liked and we were pretty much inseparable ).

We had set up camp and we're going to our very first hike of the trip(it was a three night trip). We had plenty time to talk and we were playing truth or dare and the girl who I liked asked "who do you like". I was scared for my life but decided to take a risk and tell her the truth. She responded in the most casual way someone can respond in "oh yeah, I like you too".  At this point I was loosing it. She calmed me down and we held hands for the rest of the hike. Since we were camping we had to make our own breakfast, lunch and dinner and we were on the same cooking group and we were assigned dinner.

We didn't really talk until after we got back in the tent and started coloring. Our other tent mate(we'll call her lulu) Lulu has a very big personality and well she was coming up with ship names and asking us if we were going to go on dates or not. We both were really timid at the idea of dating so we thought better thing to not start planning one since neither of our families knew about our sexualities.

We went to bed that night and I couldn't stop thinking about one thing (more on that later). Lulu was asleep so I stated talking to the girl I liked that i kinda was a thing with, I said "I think I  am jumping the gun a bit here" and she said "I think I know what your talking about" and I said "your sure" and she said "yup" and I said "okay on the count of three 1,2,3". We completely missed each others lips and I ended up giving her side kiss so she said "one more time 1,2,3."We did not miss that time. After that I fell asleep right away and then the next morning to my horror she told me she viewed me as a friend I went and cried in the tent for a few minutes and came out and pretended that nothing happened. The funny thing is that to this day we are still friends and laugh when we remember this awkward moment between us.
