Requested by: nobody- I just wanted to actually post on this book lolz-
I am on mobile at the moment, so I'm sorry if the formatting sucks! I'll work on getting a usable computer soon!
Also, this is just a little drabble to get back to writing fanfics since I'm a little rusty lmao- don't expect much. I tried to keep it using they/them pronouns but I may have accidentally used she/her a time or two- sorry!

Reader's POV
I feel the cool, damp grass on my feet as I run- making sure not to step on a branch or a mushroom circle- and find my favorite bunch of trees. The air is light and the sunrise shines off the moss and dew in a way the trees canopy cover can never erase. The wind rushes past me as I propel myself: step after step, jump after jump. I follow the right-growing moss and the landmarks I've set for myself until I finally reach my destination; a large meadow-y area lays out before me. It's filled to the brim with new budding springtime flowers and bees collecting pollen, and I tread carefully as to not step on one.
Eventually though light footfalls I find myself in front of my favorite tree. It's big and tall and spotted with leaves and sap and branches all throughout. I know that he will be here soon, but I have a few minutes to do what I wanted to- and so I must hurry. I quickly begin to climb to one of the low branches, steadily holding onto the main hull of the tree in case the branch falls under my weight. It's not a long fall by any means, 9 feet at the most, but it's a fall if rather not have. I hear footsteps approaching and I crouch down, ready to leap.Evan's POV
"Y/NNNNN?" I call out against the stark quietness of the little field.
It's quiet. Too quiet. I don't like the quiet, it gives my brain to much time to think. I don't like thinking either, because then I start feeling things and rambling and I also hate my rambling because it makes me feel really uncomfortable and anxious and-
"Y/NNNNN???" I called out once again, not hearing a sound.
I approach our tree, the one with the worn bark and tired frame- it's been well used and loved by me and Y/N for the time we've had it, and it shows- and I lean against it, when suddenly:
"Boo."
And suddenly I'm jumping out of my skin like a scared cat, squeak-screech and all. A myriad of cackle-laughter rings from above me as I fearfully hug myself, and wearily looking up at my best friend- Y/N. They're laughing, almost doubled over and waitomgaretheyaboutto- aaaaand they've fallen with a loud "oumph!"
I sigh and look wearily down at them. That fall must've been at least 7 feet, and it looked like it hurt. I know I shouldn't be very concerned- Y/N has fallen from higher branches, and I always have a medical kit if it's needed- but I still am. They haven't moved since they fell.
"U-Um... Y/N..? You a-alright??"
They're still face-planted on the ground, but they shoot me a thumbs up... sigh... let's go help them.
